I just came in from outside after playing in the snow with the kids for about 2 hours!
It wasn't really snow - more like ice. Like playing in a huge snowcone, without the cherry flavouring. Hey, it's Atlanta at least we could have had a little peachy ice!

They say it's an ice storm........OK I guess it is. The malls and most stores are closed, and I wouldn't drive out there. Not so much that I couldn't, it's just that the local's don't know how.......yikes!

IMO it's not an ice storm until the first tree falls, or the power goes out. Luckily this hasn't happen......yet!

It's the first time since we've been here that the "winter precipitation" (as they call it :rotfl: ) has actually stuck to the pavement.

The local stations have been broadcasting round the clock since 6am, over and over and over from a icy overpass, the airport, and reports from locals.
"Ah, thare done been alot of snow and eye-c cummin down from da sk-eye. Da eye-c it dun git on everythang. Jest as long at it dusn't cut awf the power 'cause we are fixin to watch the fishin show right directly on TV"
Don't you just love the south....... ;)

Since we are good Canadians, I came outside with a box of "snow gear" and passed it out amongst the neighbour kids. They had fun sleding down the hills on cookie sheets and cardboard boxes.

I watched our neighbour try to scrape about 1/4 of an inch of ice off his car with a plastic little tykes shovel :rotfl2: I then offered our Canadian industrial scraper.......his reply was, "boy you Canadians think of everything"

Even though our one day of winter fun is nothing compared to the winter you have had, we enjoyed a little taste of home!

I hope there are no Canadian DISers driving our way to Disney. I-75 was empty, closed in parts and had many ice related accidents today.

Hope y'all are having a great day! :sunny:

Hi yzma and Kronk....
So did you have fun at play that day?? Just think, if you had rented out some of your winter gear, you probably would have made enough for another trip to WDW. Just an idea for next time.....and that's all I want to say except :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

No - I didn't rent it out, but what a good idea

It's just so sad to see kids out playing in the snow/ice with socks on their hands for gloves, and their running shoes on. They last about 10 minutes.
The kid across the street had about 4 pairs of pants on (until I lent him some snow pants....) It reminded me of the days we used to go clothes shopping in the US........ ;)

No wonder they hate snow and think us Canadians are nuts for living in it 6 months of the year (on and off, of course!)

Our winter is now over. The ice melted and it's back up to 50ish today.
Hope at least the sun is out for you guys today :sunny:
