Ok, we are heading to WDW in June. There are 7 adults and 6 kids, so a day free can be quite alot of money.

Is this right? We are planning on getting 5-day passes.

If we GAD, take the voucher to the redemption window and exchange it for one day passes, we can then go to the ticket window and upgrade to a 5 day pass?

So instead of $228 for an adult 5 day pass, we would only pay $228 - 79 = $149???

And the kids would be $195 - 68 = $127 ?

Because if this is true, we could save $553 on the adult tickets alone. Just for one day of volunteering.

Is this right?

You each need to have a GAD voucher. The voucher is only good for 1 ticket only. So you each need to register and do the volunteer work.

Also, there is a requirement that you need to use the 1-day ticket on the day of redemption, and you must use it BEFORE upgrading. But you can upgrade it anytime afterwards (within the usual 14-day window).

Also, kids must be at least 6yo to volunteer. So, you will have to pay for the extra day for any kids 3-5 years old.

So if I do my volunteer work within the next week (by January 27th will I have My voucher for my trip Feb. 11th. And since I haven't bought my park passes yet...do I buy for one less day since I would be using my voucher for one day???

1. This may depend a lot on the organization. According to Disney, it can take up to two weeks for them to send you the e-mail confirmation certificate.

2. Do not buy any tickets until you have the certificate(s) in hand. Then you go to will-call, exchange the certificate for a ticket, use the ticket, and then go to Guest Relation and upgrade the ticket to the length of ticket you need.

I have the same question. I think the OP is mainly wanting to know (as am I) is how much off each multiday pass are you saving. If a 5 day adult multiday ticket is $228 then are you paying $79 less because of the GAD voucher. Will the total price to upgrade the voucher to a five day ticket be $149?

I am having the same issue. Our trip is in May and my GAD is in March. I have plenty of time. I want 7 day tickets. How much will it cost for me to upgrade my GAD one day ticket to a 7 day ticket? Should I subtract $79 off of the total cost of a 7 day adult ticket?

I can't get a clear answer from anyone. I think the OP wants to know the same thing.

I'm not sure why you can't get a clear answer, because the answer is YES, you take $79 off the pre-tax cost of the ticket that you want to have at the end (for adults, $68 for kids, not including any potential price increases between now and when you actually purchase).

This ONLY applies if you use the GAD voucher to get the 1-day ticket, and then upgrade THAT ticket. You can not do anything with a pre-existing ticket or one in a package to use the GAD for a discount.

This is right.

But don't forget that you need a certificate for each ticket. For 13 people you will need 13 certificates. And any upgraded ticket is limited to the person whose name is on the certificate.

Where is "will call" located. When I needed to pick up an AP ordered for will call, I did so at Guest Services....same for this?

Also how does one go about donating their GAD?

Donating your GAD: After you complete your service, you get a verification email with a link, you go to "Manage account" and it will show your name(s) and say that service is verified, then you have the option to print your voucher or donate your ticket. I chose print so I am not sure what the next step is in the donate process, but it appears you do it all right there online.

Once you complete your service and Disney has your vouchers ready in your online account, you can go in and at that time choose to either print/download the vouchers or donate them.

Guest Services (a.k.a. Guest Relations) can often handle the will-call tasks, but as far as the Birthday and GAD promotions went, if the will-call window was open you need to go there first. If the will-call window is closed, THEN go to GR.

At the Magic Kingdom entrance, the will-call is usually the GR location anyways. Occasionally it is in the round building across from there.

Thanks, everyone!:surfweb:

:worship:Help me pleeeease! I a so confused...

I am taking my 3 kids to the World in Nov for 4 nights. DH is working. The kids and I want to donate a day of service to get a free day in the MK. I think it will be a great experience for them to see first hand the needs in the community.

My situation is that we are only doing 2 days of parks. So would I redeem my voucher one day and then the next day go and buy everyone a one day ticket?

If I add the ddp, how would that work? I only would need one more ticket for each of us with the free one.

I think I am confusing myself!:scared1:

Normally, you would turn in the voucher for the free 1-day ticket, go into the park (you must use it before doing anything else with it), and then upgrade it to the ticket you want.

To get the dining plan, you must have a package that includes at least a 1-day base ticket for everyone on the reservation.

The normal advice would be to pocket the 1-day tickets from the package and save them for a future trip, and upgrade the GAD tickets to what you need for the best value for your dollar. However, for just a 2-day trip, this will only save you $2 on an adult ticket, and $3 on a child ticket.

Okay, so you are saying if I do not get a package, use the free ticket for each of us first, and then go back another day and buy a one day ticket for each of us. Is that right? I am sorry. I am just slow on this draw.:surfweb:

No - if you are not getting a package, use the GAD ticket, and then upgrade it to a 2-day ticket. It will save you a few dollars.

If you DO get the package, well, its up to you:

1) Save the 1-day ticket from the package for a future trip and upgrade the GAD ticket still

2) Use the package ticket as well

In your particular case, you'll save a total of $11 (not including tax) by upgrading the GAD ticket to a 2-day ticket over getting a separate 1-day ticket (in a package or direct buy). For case #1 above, you can still realize that savings if you are willing to defer the use of the 1-day ticket from the package to a further trip - essentially you are paying now for the ticket on that future trip (this part is a little hard to explain).

Can the GAD tickets be used to upgrade to a one day hopper? How is that done? Thanks!

You can upgrade the GAD ticket just like it is a regular MYW ticket, with the exception that you MUST use it before upgrading.

1) Redeem your voucher for the 1-day ticket at the Will Call window
2) Enter the park
3) Anytime between that point and the point at which you want to enter a second park, get park hopping added at Guest Relations or any ticket window.

If there is a chance you won't need to park hop, wait until you actually get to the other park and then go to a ticket window and add park hopping. The cost will be $52+tax.
