OK I'll Start It!! NYE Party @ SSR! Who Else?

Wow! That sounds like fun! If we were staying at SSR I might consider it.

Like Tomandrobin (and no, I'm not his Robin, LOL) we are going to the MK on 12/30 and MGM on 12/31.

I am so torn!! We have dinner reservations at Ohona's at 9:30 on NYE and then the plan was to wach the fireworks from the Poly beach...but we are staying at SS over NYE so now I am torn...should I stick to the original plan or go to SS?? We will have a car if that helps with the decision...

Just remember you can see the MK NYE fireworks on the 30th too. Either way you will have a great time.

I look at it this way, it'll give you an excuse to come back next year for NYE!

true...and we are eating at Chef Mickeys on the 30th so I could go over to the Magic Kingdom afer that....but if I eat dinner at 9:30 on NYE at ohona's do you think I will be out in time to make it to SS and still have plenty of time to have fun?? Will the kids stuff still be going on? My kids are 6 and 8...

Are 12/30 MK fireworks held at midnight too?

I dont think you will make it out of Ohana's on time. So I would stick with the original plan to watch the fireworks from Poly.

The restaurants will be busy and much slower. I also would not drive anywhere on NYE. Traffic will be horrendous after the fireworks and it will take you a while to get out of the MK area.

The SSR party ends right after the fireworks. People normally start showing up around 8:30 to 9pm.

We'll see everyone at the party!!

What did they have and do at the party last year? Iwant to get a feel for what's there?

Hey we'll be at Ohana's NYE as well but our reservations are earlier, 6:35pm so we should have plenty of time to get back to SSR for the fiesta! :)

Hi Brogan!

It may be a little tame for you and your Dad!;) (I wanna party with y'all!)

This last year, they added a cash bar at the Congress Park Pool which was nice.
The recreation staff has been great in years past, passing out beads, hats, noisemakers and popcorn. They have a DJ set up that plays mostly Disney music, they play trivia and bingo with prizes, line dances (cha cha slide, Cupid Shuffle is new this year) 1 year we joined others in the hot tub and had a perfect view of the fireworks and other years we have pitched a blanket on the lakefront and watched the fireworks. If you are lakeside, you will be the closest to any of the fireworks on Disney property, very up close and absolutely stunning.

Also all the people packed in and partying over at PI you can see and hear and it really adds to the excitement without being packed in there with them! LOL!!! You can hear their roar after the fireworks. It's very neighborly and nostalgic.

I guess the best way to describe the SSR NYE party is like the Private Illuminations Viewing area at Epcot where they have the Dessert Parties and Special Events.

My boys love swimming with the other children (they have lifeguards during the party) and they play on the playground, we sit in loungers and have drinks and talk. It is really a special way to spend NYE:love:

We've been there every year since SSR opened in 2004:santa: So this will be our 4th year.:woohoo:

Im hoping for another great party this year:wizard:

I can hardly wait! Thanks for the run down, Liferbabe. My NYE's have been so dull, sitting at home and watching the NY Times Square celebrations. I'm glad to be sharing it with others this year!

Wether you are staying at SSR or going to one of the Parks for NYE, it will be amazing. There is such a festive feeling, I can't describe it. Good times!

That pretty much describes my NYE celebrations. My dad and I are looking forward to meeting a few DISers and seeing some fireworks. (Disney always does those best.)

Oh and we're dragging my single handsome male cousin along (hint hint for any single ladies out there). We expect he'll be spending his time figuring out how they strung Osborne Lights and what landscping they've done. (He's a landscaper.)

So about bringing my Bunratty Mead, can someone post the mailing address for SSR? I figure I'll be better off shipping a couple bottles down rather than risking airline baggage. Southwest is good but I don't want to push my luck. I'll end up smelling like a pub all weekend.

Hey everyone my family and i are staying at ssr again this year and this is are first new years eve we are looking so foward to it.We have ressies at 8:30 at lecellier and then heading backing to ssr for the evening party just let me know where and when thanks MISSY AND FAMILY

Just watched the local weather news here in Florida. A cold front is expected for the new year with lows in the mid 30s. Rain chances are at 50% for NYE.

Things could change for the better but planning for some inclement weather can't hurt.

We are leaving in the morning, expect to be at SSR by 11:30am.

Keep a look out for us, party of five, Tom and Robin of course, DS 22, DD 16 and DS 14. We should stand out from the crowds, Robin will be in a wheelchair and I 'll be the one pushing. Word to the wise, I'll be new a pushing the wheelchair so you might want to give us room to maneuver!

If I don't run into to you after all, Happy New Year!

Accuweather shows a low of 55, with the low temps forecast for the evening of Jan 2...here's hoping for a warm NYE, at least!

We're at SSR 12/30 - Jan 4 - we're planning on the CP for 12/30 - last night available, so only choice - we have a pkg, eating at TeppanEdo (sp?) @5:30 PM. On 12/31, I thought we *might* try the parks at rope drop for just a couple of hrs, back to (or just stay at) SSR for a relaxing day (and a nap for at least the DGS if no one else), dinner at Turf Club at 5:30 PM and then on to the party at SSR. I know an early AM after a late CP might be tough, but I do know IF we go to a park it will only first thing in the AM or maybe we'll try AK.

One Q, tho: where, exactly, IS the party at SSR??

Geez, how sad am I? I kinda forget I'm leaving town in 4 days. Christmas. Hey, I had 16 people over my house yesterday including 9 young kids. And 6 of them are coming back for a sleepover tomorrow. (I'm making them pack for me. Although I have to check my suitcase to see none stowas away.)

Dad and I will be there with cousin John starting Sunday. Flying outa BWI 8am and hoping not to drop before we return Wednesday. At least the weather forecast has improved. It was calling for 60's and 40's all through last week. 80's and 60's I can handle. Maybe my Christmas wish has come true.

Now I just need to worry about my paranoid stuff... like the airplane's wings falling off midflight.

Hope to see some Dis-ers there. Remember, look for these two and don't be afraid to say hi. (We are much friendlier in person.)

I never saw this thread and had my own thread from when we booked 11 months ago:

Well, we are here.....

Ended up in "The Springs"....with a view of the small lake and fountain. GREAT location!

We were able to walk to the Community Hall, Pool, arcade, etc. Much better than last year at the Paddocks where we had to drive to everything!

Looking forward to NYE.....should be fun.

We will hang out here tomorrow...kids want to ride the Surrey bikes and go to the pool. Then it is off to Universal Studios for Friday and Saturday.

They are calling for rain on Monday, so that may be the day for Disney Quest (although we may do Sunday since it might be really crowded on Monday with rain)

Is the party at the main pool or Congress hall? This is only our second time at the resort and were aren't familiar with where everything is.
