Our trip is in June and I will just tell my 8 yr old there is a summer virus going around and to make sure hands are washed just like going to school in Jan.
I'm not freaking and always tell my DD6 and DS8 to wash their hands before putting anything in their mouths and as soon as we get home from mall, grocery store, etc.
I was not happy when my third grader told me his teacher was talking to the class about swine flu and she mentioned the toddler that died in Texas...WHY??? was that really necessary? luckily he was not spooked about it.
Is there anyone considering canceling their trip due to this scare of swine flue? I read the post from someone from New York saying there are no reported case of swine flu in Orlando so why not go. well if you are from New York City and traveling to Orlando you could be the one carrying it to Orlando. no symptoms for 48 hours could mean you get there and 1 to 2 days later you have spread it to the wonderful world of Disney.
I am not trying to panic. I have 8 days until I leave from Philly. I am not really worried about the flu. my family can handle the symptoms. I just dont want my family vacation to be ruined by bad tummys and fever!! lots of money spent and memories would be lost.
Considering that there are zero cases reported in Florida and over 50 here in NY, I think that heading to DW on Saturday might be a good option for us! Seriously, I am worried, but also realize that I worry about other illness too. Stomach bugs are my worst fear!
In trying to look on the brightside, I would like to think that now with many people taken all these precautions there might even be less germs. Here's to wishful thinking
Good luck to all Disers who will be visiting Disney soon. I hope you have a safe and happy trip. Mine is not until Aug. So hopefully things are getting better by then.
