Today, DH and I went into an upscale shop in a little town center. From the outside, it looked like a really cute and quaint store. I walked in first and walked by the salesperson sitting at the counter and she did not even look up. DH walks by about 5 feet behind me and she gives him the biggest smile and says hello. Did she not see me? She should know that in that type of shop it is the woman you usually buys. I saw a few thinks I like but, I will spend my money elsewhere. In my area, where these little shops are prevelant, it is customary to greet the customers. I just did not want anyone to think I am being prissy. Has this ever happened to you?

Ooh, I hate that feeling. I would take my business elsewhere too.

I too have experienced the "invisible" sensation in stores. It's aggravating:mad:

We had a little boutique here in town that did me that way once too. I never went back and they are out of business now. Wonder why? (Oh and it ain't cause of me--I'm not a shopper!:p )

I, too, suffer from being invisible. A few weeks ago I went into Express to look for some camisoles. The sales people were all over the teens and twenty-somethings but never looked at me at all. I had to search for someone to open a dressing room for me. I thought, "What fools! Can't they figure out that I make about 10 times as much money as those young girls?"

How do you know they weren't very rich and worked there just for fun?

This happened to me at a Clinique counter! I am a regular customer...I wasn't just there for the free gift. I'm standing there for a good 20 minutes when 3 teenagers who stood there for 3 minutes deciding what to buy to make the $19.95 needed for the free gift, the whole time counting change because they didn't have enough money, walk up to the counter and immediately get helped! I was livid. DH, who is the most patient person on the planet, said not to get upset that we would be helped soon. I told him what I wanted and said he could stand there and wait.

I went and got 3 pairs of pants - which I tried on - and 4 shirts. I walk back to the counter and he's still standing there! They still hadn't helped him! Now HE was angry. We left that mall and went to another mall where the lady was very helpful. We told her about our experience at the other mall and she gave us two free gifts just for our troubles (my mom was happy since I shared with her).

To this day I drive the extra 20 minutes to the other mall to hit the Clinique counter. I won't give the people at the other mall any commissions if they're going to ignore me like that.

I would do the same thing. BUT  this gets into the whole male/female thing. LOL! I've noticed quite often, most recently while out for a walk, that if I come across a couple, very often the female won't acknowledge another female, but it's the guy who will smile or say hello. I say hi to the guys! LOLOL! The heck with the snotty females! :teeth:
