My gd is 5 going on 6 in May and we are taking her to DL next weekend...the drive is about 5 hours and I know we will stop a billion times to go bathroom:faint: so Im really going to try and limit the amount of liquid consumption for her:rotfl: ...I know there has been loads of talk on this board about things to take for kids to occupy themselves...I will have coloring books and crayons plus a portable dvd player which should help and we will play cd's in the car while shes coloring...is there anything else anyone can think of that might occupy her besides what I have??

Small pillow, blanket, a magnadoodle if she has one (easier then crayons because you can't loose the part that "writes"). Five hours isnt bad. My kids do that with little complaint.

Yes we only take the same as you and our drive is about 4 hours. We also let them eat lunch on the way so that takes up about 1/2 hour to an hour of the trip. They usually fall asleep for 1-2 hours also so that helps. Can't think of anything else, sorry!!

I always get books on tape on now download digital books from our local library. My kids can listen to these for hours and be entertained.

Kids are so lucky these days....I never had a portable DVD player when I was little! lol Maybe play some disney tunes on the way to get ya pumped for DL! ;)

When my dd gets bored in the car we play 20 questions (also works in lines for rides) Usually we use the catagory of disneyland, pick a ride or a character. It works great. You will be fine. Make sure you have head phones for the DVD.

Also, try some stickers (princesses maybe) and some paper to put them on.

How about "I spy with my little eye..." Do you know how to play that? If not let me know and I''ll get back with instructions. Really easy and fun for all ages. The DVD is probably your life saver though. Has she seen "High School Musical?" Maybe that's too old for her? Anyways, when we were there in December, noticed alot of little girls really enjoying the show At DCA. I even enjoyed it myself. Of course I probably know every word to all of the songs because of my daughter...LOL!:rotfl: Have a wonderful time and be sure to let us know of your stay at the GC!:tinker:

My DD loves playing travel bingo. I bought a set a long time ago but have made her one myself also. Instead of numbers, put different things you might see during your trip and she can check them off as she sees them. Depending on age, I have put traffic signs, different color cars, barn, truck, railroad crossing etc. to look for. If you have a DL planning DVD, it might also get her excited about the trip. You will have to stop more often than you'd like probably, but allow plenty of time for that and you won't be stressed.

LOL! My little sister is crazy about HSM!! She listens to their music religiously and I swear she has to have all merchandise with their faces on it! :sad2:

We're all in this together
Once we know
That we are
We're all stars
And we see that
We're all in this together
And it shows
When we stand
Hand in hand
Make our dreams come true

Together, together, together everyone
Together, together, come on lets have some fun
Together, were there for each other every time
Together together come on lets do this right

I love HSM!!!!!

Looks like you got everything covered. DVD's would occupy my kids for that amount of time. We also have leapster games which can eat up hours while they learn.:teacher:
