Ok, I know this sounds a little compulsive, but...

Has anyone ever made (or seen) a list of things to do before your trip? Kind of like a packing list but would include things like:

Getting things for kids to do in the car
getting things for kids to do in line
makign PS
getting passporter or something like it
getting clothes, etc., etc., etc., etc.,

Just wondering - these boards bring out the unhealthy side of my compulsive personality :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Of course,

I have a running tally in my brain right now, and it's got:

Need tank tops
Need new sandals
Need more glow sticks
Gotta get another memory card + better tripod
Gotta get a camera bag/messenger bag (tired of fanny pack)
get a new book to read
get kids a new pack of go fish cards
get small magna doodle
need to buy cat food
need to find cat sitter
need laundry detergent

as I go shopping, I mentally tick the items off when I get them and put them away in the suitcase.

Are you kidding? I am the QUEEN of lists!! I've got lists of my lists! I'm lost w/o a list!

Seriously, I think lists simplify my life. If I write it down, I don't feel the pressure of keeping everything in my head or the worry of forgetting something.

Here's something I added to my "Do before Disney" list today: Watch "The Swiss Family Robinson" movie with the kids so they will get more out of the "treehouse" attraction in MK.

:wave2: and for the really obsessed, don't forget about...

*making info packages for everyone in the family to look at while traveling and including PS, suggested touring plan, EMH, parade and park hours on excell spreadsheets, fun Disney facts, Hiden Mickeys, menus, elongated coin locations and phone numbers (including Turner Drugs).
*putting that excell spreadsheet (reduced in size) into a snack size ziploc to protect it while on rides.
*making mousekeeping envelopes
*making personalized notepaper with Disney characters
*lists for what to bring to the park each day in the diaper bag
*lists of things to buy and who to buy for
*things to not forget to do in all the excitement, like Belle's Storytime and take a photo of our brick and of the hotel room
*the locations of the Leave a Legacy photos of family and friends
*PTouch lables for EVERYTHING
*Id tags for the kids

ok, now you all know how crazy I am!

Not only did I have a list of things to do and buy, I had to make a list of all the park hours, EMH and the rides open, with notations to am or pm, all the must sees, the best places to see all the parades/ shows (and the times they start, plus how early to get there), I know where all of our meals will be, including counter service, and I will be downloading the menu's to my Palm Pilot... I have my son's exact toy list to bring with him, as well as a plane survival kit for him (activities)... The list goes on, I have even planned what to pick up at the grocery store already! (And this has all been done for at least a week now) My itineray is pretty loose, considering all that I've done... It's our second trip ever (our first trips were seperate, when we were each around 12) and its a short one! My husband thinks I'm nuts!!!

ETA- I have a souvie list too!

Boy, does this thread make me feel beter. :flower:
there is also the list of things to remember at check in...
*LP #
*room request (or good rooms I may want)
*ressie info
*fridge for room

and the last minuite to do list before you leave the house...
*timer for lights
*notes for neighbors (watching house)
*phone chargers
*curling iron
*sun glasses (we have left in the dark and forgot those before)

ryan840, I have that list of things to pick up too (cold stuff, milk, fruit, yougurt..)! and a list of things to have Mom bring since she lives in Fl and is driving. (water, cereal, soda, beer, dry snacks, diapers, wipes... )

and since we go in Feb and won't need the summer stuff :sunny: at home, there is the list to send down with Mom next time they drive from our house (ponchos, light spinners, surprize souvies I purchased ahead of time, extra stroller, princess beach towel, swim shoes, swim vest...)

If I didn't have kids we would just go with the flow but they do make you want to be prepared for any situation.

Now here is a question for my fellow compulsive list makers, do you save them on computer to reuse? or just hand write, cross and toss? :cheer2:

HI, my name is karynnix, and I am a compulsive list maker. :wave2: My family laughs about my "clipboard of fun", but let's see how well they do without it!!

In a previous job I traveled so much that I kept a running list of what to pack, now that I have two kids, I started a "what to pack for the kids" last summer when we went on vacation - I have it on my laptop and am constantly adding to it depending on the season! It is the ONLY way to keep my sanity :cheer2: !! My DH laughs, but we are rarely caught without an item.

How would I remember everything I need to buy and everything that needs to get done in the next eight days without my lists??????

Mine are on the computer, all fancied up with my favorite writing and probably even some clip art by the time I'm done... I even had my packing list all highlighted in different colors for different stores for the things I needed to pick up, then I just unhighlight it when it's done...

That is where my OCD comes out in full force, my lists, I organize to a fault!

Compulsive listmaker here, too. I have: PS list, sheet of info on the resort including confirmation #, weekly overview with each day detailed as far as touring plans, stuff to pack, stuff to buy after arriving in Orlando, souvenirs to buy (some leniency here but we try not to buy too much "useless junk" as we already have enough of that!), postcards to send, and probably a few others I'm forgetting right now! :rotfl:

You all are too awesome...I thought I was the only one who made tons of lists... :rotfl:

I have lists galore! My DH saw all my lists plus my itineraries (yes, I have a general one and a very detailed one) and sarcastically said, "Gee, you're going to be a fun one to travel with". He's just joking though since I explained to him all things we need to remember....I THINK he's joking. :confused3

I actually have a list of how much money to take out of the savings and what denominations to get it in. My husband thinks that's crazy, but what if I got there and forgot to get quarters for the pressed penny machines??? The whole vacation could fall apart!!!!!

I am laughing as there are 5 different post-it notes on my desk right now with almost all of the stuff listed in previous posts...different notes for different places..

walmart list..
downstairs do not forget list..
upstairs do not forget list....
note to remind me to bring other notes....

But ya know what...hubby does not have any lists/notes....they have no idea what goes into these trips....actually he has the note to get the quarters and pennies for the pressed penny machines !!!!

This is so funny!!! I didn't think I was too bad until I started reading this thread and going "Oh my..that's on my list too"

I don't have too much written down exactly (it's in the computer though - and one of the lists is to print out information before going!).

No wonder my DH just rolls his eyes at me!

I have things like also planning on the kid's outfits to match the character meal/park we are going to, etc... But first I need to GET those outfits. LOL!

I'm obviously obsessed but didn't think I was that bad! Just wanted everything to be perfect and not forget anything (I read on here a nightlight & thought that was great so have to remember to pack that, etc..). I haven't officially made my lists though, just mentally. LOL!

I was wondering if it was too early to get the suitcases out yet though and start putting "don't need it now" things in it. I had THOUGHT about it but figured April for the July trip was a bit much and I would wait until at least school was out.

has a great master list. I use it to help me with my own lists. It has a few things I have forgotten.

You know, list making is very freeing. Once it is on paper, it is off your mind. You know?
