OK.. I have a points question.

Dh and I just bought 250 at SSR. We will probably buy at least another 150 at another DVC resort re-sale. Now, the question....We mainly want to cruise for the first few years. Will we be able to use all 400 points as long as we're booked within our use year? What I'm asking is can they all be combined as one group of points for cruising purposes?

I don't know if you can combine the points to use on a cruise "as is", if not, you can transfer the points from one contract to another (similar to transfering points to another member) and do it that way. If you're looking to do this on a fairly regular basis, it may be better for you to look for a resale contract that has the same use year as your SSR contract.

Since I haven't bought a resale add-on I don't know if Disney would combine them under one membership number (if the same use year), like they do for a regular Disney purchased add-on or not...anyone with experience in this?

Utilizing the info I gathered on HAL Alaska cruises I would assume they would have to be the same use year and combined into one contract OR you would have to transfer points from one contract to another. Still, using points to cruise is a poor use of points and a poor value in almost all situations. Why not just pay cash using the early booking discount and use your SSR points for DVC trips. You'll have a significant amount of extra money at the end of any time interval if you go that way.
