....or was planning on going but changed plans because of financial situation?

I don't. Actuallly, it's the opposite here for me. This year I seem to know more people going than ever before.

Also, I haven't heard of anyone losing a job recently. Most all that I heard were from last year. Thankfully, most of them have gotten jobs.

Just curious to hear what's going on in other parts of country.

I think it's more people are not booking in the first place rather than canceling. I used to always know 2 or 3 people in the office who were asking me for advice for upcoming trips. Don't know of any right now. The biggest "Disney Fanatic" in our office was laid off last year. Not just the economy, but with the possible war & terrorism, people are sticking close to home.

I was at WDW for a 4 day weekend 2 weeks ago and the parks were not crowded. If it wasn't for the cheerleader groups, it would have been pretty dead.

Last year Easter was in March, I wonder if they were expecting higher crowds for March this year based on last March's attendance? I have not heard of anyone dropping their vacation for this year, although many people seem concerned about the direction some world events may turn, none that I know seem to be cancelling their spring break plans. I know the students at the school I work at are all a bit concerned that a war would mean they can not go to Florida for their baseball tournement and that the "big" Spain trip will be cancelled.

Most of the folks we know look at a trip to WDW as a once or twice in a decade trip due to costs.
We go every other year--2004 is our next one. This year is our Tennessee/Dollywood trip.

Sorry to say I don't know of anyone who's planning to go. My local community has been very hard hit by layoffs and company closings, so it isn't going to get any better. the high dollar vacations have to be the first sacrifice if you don't have a job or have one but don't know for how long.
Here in the midwest, most of our jobs are going to Mexico or to the US sunbelt.

It's funny how the economy effects us in different ways in different parts of country.

Today I'm helping my friend plan her trip - she has a $10,000. budget. My other friend is getting 2 rooms at Poly in Nov. - no budget there either. Not all of my friends are spending that much. Of course, I live in NJ where alot of people work in the city and make great money.

We go about every other year and I've been planning/saving all the while. My husband had a bad year at work last year, less overtime, no raise. But I am a diligent saver, so we are doing without other things so I can have my fix. :)
I sometimes think of all the things I can be doing around my house with the money I'm spending on Disney, but life is too short!!

$10k? You should try to talk them into DVC. With that much, they could almost own outright at DVC... wow...

One of our local high schools recently cancelled all out of state trips. A Cheerleader group was really upset because they have a non-refundable deposit for a WDW competition that they earned through fundraisers.

Actually, it seems as if MANY, MANY people are planning trips to WDW for this year, and we live in a military town. No one seems to be concerned with either the economy, or war. Of course, they all have budgets, and want to know the least expensive way to go for 5 days, see as much as they can and stay on property. I say, let them go to WDW and spend their money. In that way, WDW won't have to cut park hours, close resorts, have a hiring freeze or cut CM's hours!!!
