The last time I went was in June of '05.

Currently I'm booked from December 3-8th. I'm noticing that if I switch my rezzie to the free dining plan days, say Sep 10-16, I can add days to my trip, and save money at the same time. However, I'm not sure which time would be better.

Obviously, I'll miss the Christmas decorations if I go in September, but do you think I'm better off overall going when I can get more "bang for my buck?"

Help me, DIS!

The crowds NORMALLY are about the same in September as in early December, but apparently - in December of '05, the crowds were insane. Early December used to be a well-kept secret crowds wise, but apparently, someone broke that secret!

Less lines, cheaper prices BEFORE discounts, AND FREE dining v. Christmas Decorations

Less lines, cheaper prices pre-discount, and FREE dining would win out for me. :)

We usually go in June/July but went this past December for the first Christmas trip. I really would suggest December over September. The Christmas decorations and MVMCP and other festivities are so worth it, IMO. The crowds this past December were NOTHING compared to what we were used to by going every year during 4th of July :thumbsup2 !! Just be careful where you stay since I think you are going during POP Warner.

It depends if this is your 1st trip, a once in a lifetime, or one of many, budget is a major priority. We went in Sept 98 then did a major splurge trip the week after Thanksgiving last year. Nov/Dec was alot more special with all the xmas things and nicer weather, not crowded at all and I'm so glad we had that one very special trip. Of course I hadn't found the Dis for that Sept trip which makes a big difference in knowing where to go and that there are special things like character meals. Ask me again after this Sept, I just booked free dining now that I've caught the WDW bug :rotfl2: I'd say if budget is a priority go in Sept, if cooler weather is a priority or the xmas things stick with Dec. Crowds weren't an issue in either month.

Went in Jan MLK weekend, then in Sept. with free dining. Sept. definately quieter, but very hot and very humid. We live in Texas, but the humidity wore us down. DH was extremely uncomfortable, and all of us tired quicker, and got a little cranky when we were out in it for a long time. We're passing up the free dining for the cooler months, although I am glad we tried it. Both trips were magical, but for comforts sake, we'll stick to cooler weather. :goodvibes
