I swear, I have been on and off WW so many times, it is shameful. I so desperately want to shed the weight I put on during my pregnancies - and my youngest will be 3 next month. So it is TIME!

So what gets you motivated and keeps you motivated? How do you deal with slumps? Set backs? Blatant "cheating?"

I would love to hear your words of wisdom. I want to be an "after" so much!

I am having breast reduction surgery on July 23rd and I will not be able to exercise for quite some time - I'm thinking 4 to 6 weeks post-op. BUT, I will be able to watch what I put in my mouth. And I am looking forward to trying to become a runner post-surgery.

Also, I am going to WDW in 12 days and I won't be going crazy food wise, but I'm not going to deprive myself of a Mickey Bar or other treats - although I won't be having the sweets every day of the trip.

So, thoughts? Wisdom? Experiences?

Thank you for sharing! I truly appreciate it!

 scanne!

I so understand what you are saying, I was you, I joined WW three different times and had tried countless diets to no avail until my last joining of WW last year. I am now and "after" and I am working on being a happily ever after (toning the leftover skin and sticking with it).

You ask what motivates me, the answer is simple, WISH and others around me at WW and Curves who are making a journey to get healthy too. These boards are KEY to my success. The helpfulness, the motivation, the compasion and the inspiration are what keep me going. I try to motivate and inspire all who are around me and I try to take from others the same motivation and inspiration. The hardest part of this journey is going it alone, every time I did I failed. I made my goal once before and thought I knew what I was doing, I learned the mechanics, I could be an after. Well, I stopped going to meetings, I stopped exercising and I stopped coming to WISH.....I gained 25 pounds back. I didn't like the way I felt or looked so I joined WW for the last time. I have reached my goal and I am working so hard to stay a lifetimer.

How do I handle slumps or cheating? Well, I chock it up to my poor judgement and start new the next day. This isn't a perfect world so I will not always resist temptations, I just had to learn to balance those temptations with better choices. Weight Watchers is not a diet, but a lifestyle, it will only work if you are committed to yourself and really want to be an after. My leader always says,
If you believe it, you can achieve it!
And it is so true. You have to commit to yourself!!

Good luck with your upcoming surgery and your quest to get healthy. My advice is to believe in yourself and come to WISH often for support to help you on your journey!

Hi! I'm going through the same thing. I've been yo-yoing with WW the past year and its just not working. I will say that I've lost a lot of my will power that I had the last time I was on WW. Partly because my new job is stressful and partly because I live on my own now and I can buy whatever I want and actually keep beer in my apartment without my parents saying a word.

So now I've decided since I can't own up to myself and I keep whining to my bf who I'm sure is tired of it that I am going to join WW the week after the July 4th holiday. I think actually attending meetings will help. i'm going to go to a free meeting to see if I like the group and if not then i'll be doing it online. I actually just joined a gym so that is helping me as well. Its just about getting motivated again and finding that mindset.

I have learned though from previous times on WW that one day a week is helpful to just eat what I want or to go out to eat and not worry about what I"m putting in my mouth.

I'm glad I found WISH and I'm hoping to learn from everyone here and to stay on track with their help.

Hello!

If you choose WW as your method, you have to realize they are trying to teach you how to eat well & plan around food celebrations in your life for the REST of your Life. This is YOUR COMMITMENT to YOURSELF to BE HEALTHY until you leave your body behind & move on to whatever you believe comes next.

Good luck to you!

Motivation is something you have to get from yourself. YOU have to want this for you and know you CAN do anything! I recieve unlimited inspiration from WISH. As already said, it really does help when you can be accountable and here is where you can help someone along the way. Everyone on WISH is here helping each other. Sometimes many do not realize how important that help is. Keep coming and posting.

Yes, there are slumps, slips, slides in the process. I get back on and keep on keeping on. It does make a difference if you do not beat up you. Make it positive and do everything you can.

The times that are most difficult I try to learn from and make it a continued effort to not focus on the failure.

Think positive. Make it happen. You CAN do this and you DO want it.
