Ok GMRS liscences the myth

SO I called teh FCC in the US just to determine the whole liscence thing with them. I explained to them about the radios and how long we visit the US etc the lady at the liscencing centre of the FCC told me not to bother with the liscence just try to stick to the FRS band that is still used by the GMRS radios and she told me there was no way to truly tell who was using GMRS radios without a liscence and they don't actively check them. Her estimate was that 1 of 15 Americans actually purchase the liscence for their GMRS radios.
