and look I can make this scrapbook related because I bought a ton of ribbon at joann's! :rotfl2: I was there at 6am, all by myself (no idea what the line at target was for... but it went around the block) I picked up the 2 deer for the front yard, the giant 3ft wooden nutcracker that I HAD to have (no idea why, well ok it might have helped that it was already 60%off and I could use my m's 25% off total purchase coupon). bought some rubber stamps (see, that's scrapbook related too), and um what else did I buy? no idea, some halloween ribbon (how can you leave that there at 90% off right?) think that's it. now to um get it out of the car without it being noticed by dh... that could be an interesting experience. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: maggie

they must all still be out shopping! Sounds like you picked up some fun stuff.

I hit Walmart and Micheal's this morning. Micheal's had 25% off entire purchase so I got my sister some scrapbooking stuff for christmas. There wasn't a whole lot of people there either. Got there at 545 and nobody so I went to starbucks for coffee then came back and shopped.

This was the first Black Friday since my youngest (13) was born that I have NOT been out shopping on this day. It feels really wierd. However, there's really nothing on sale today that we need. I may venture out later today just to get into the spirit of things. Right now, I'm putting off putting the lights on the living room tree. Ugh!

this is the first year (in several) that I did not go out...my dd5 woke up at 2:45 and never went back to sleep (I stayed up w/him)....so by the time 5:00 rolled around, I woke up my hubby and said that I was going back to bed. :rotfl: I did just place an online order w/Kohls though (and got free shipping too). I still have my 60% coupon for ACMoore and MAY try to head out there later (but I don't know if I'm that brave)

I'm guilty! :rotfl2:

Got up at 3 a.m. to prepare for the Wal Mart trip, then went back to bed.

Got up again at 4 a.m., decided not worth it, so went back to bed.

Got up at 5:30 a.m., and realized I was too late! Hurried over to WM, but no computers left. (And I really needed two of them for my h.s. seniors... :sad2: ) No MP3 player either...

But I did get two Star Wars Lightsabers for GS and I to play with on Christmas morning! Oh, and the Disney snowglobe at JC Penney.

Maggie, you go girl! I wish I lived closer to Joann's or M's. The closest one is two hours away from here. And hey, I wouldn't have passed up on the halloween ribbon either! Oh yeah, we have one of those giant nutcrackers that I bought at Sam's a few years ago. He guards the front door for me! ;)

For years DH would laugh at me when I got up early to run to Wal-Mart at 6am. He thought it was insane to fight the crowds. Well guess who was up at 5:30 this morning! :rotfl2: He told me to stay in bed, but he totally woke me when he was getting dressed. Then he wanted me to go back to bed, but I was too awake.

He's called me from every store so far - at least twice per store. :rotfl2: During his latest phone call he asked if there was anything I needed while he was down near Mikes! (But he'd left this house without my Michaels coupon because he didn't want to go there.) :headache: Then decided that he wouldn't go get what I needed after all because he didn't have the coupon. Men! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You'd have to know him to truly appreciate how funny all this is to me. He tends to do the majority of grocery shopping because he thinks I spend too much. However, he doesn't (read "refuses") to use coupons or ask for rainchecks. He hates buying stuff when it isn't on sale if I want it for a recipe. But it hurts my knee too much to walk on those concrete floors so I let him do the shopping.

From the grocery he calls me from every aisle (or so it seems) to ask my opinion, but then gets what he wants anyway - which is usually not the opinion I've given him. LOL It was the same thing this morning. He called to see if I wanted a red, white or black crockpot as that was all that was left. I told him white because it would go better in the kitchen. He's buying the black.

I do know he picked up the Harry Potter Scene It! at Target & a black skirt for DD because he called 3 times while he was in that store. Of course he wouldn't look in the Dollar Spot for me. Other than that I don't know what else he's gotten since he's not back yet.

I really wish I'd gotten one of those 60% ACM coupons! My parents didn't get that paper on Weds so I don't have one. I'd really have liked one of those giant nutcrackers! We have a collection of smaller ones (8" to 16") that sit in one of our deep window sills, but I'd really love a giant one! :teeth: I'm headed to Mikes/JoAnns tomorrow morning I think. Of course the stuff I really need for my Christmas projects isn't on sale at either store so it won't be a real bargain to use those %off entire purchase coupons. :(

I didn't even look at any of the ads because I knew that I wouldn't be getting up early and didn't even want to know what I was missing. I just got up about a half hour ago. I am sooo not organized this year, I don't know even know where to start with my shopping :guilty: . I hope everyone who went out had fun!
From the grocery he calls me from every aisle (or so it seems)
My DH does this also, but it to make sure he is getting what I want! It drives me crazy most of the time, because most of the things it doesn't really matter, but it is better than coming home with the wrong things I suppose.

I'm one of the guilty ones. I met my aunt at Comp usa. Then to Toys r us, Pennys, JoAnns, Target and Kohls. Left at 4:15 am home by 8:30. Got some (still have tons to do) shopping done and spent way too much money!

I'm one of the idiots.

I just returned home after 6 hours of shopping. I haven't done this in years since I usually work the day after Thanksgiving but this year my DH sweet-talked me into going to Walmart for Gameboys. Since he gets up every day at 3:30AM for work I couldn't really say no to him. BUT going to Walmart may have been the single worst experience of my life. I had been there a few years ago, but DH was with me then and it wasn't so bad. I was in the parking lot at 4:55 - it took me until 5:10 to find a space and get to the front door. It took me until 5:30 to make it from the front door to electronics and by that time the Gameboys were gone. :confused3 All that time I was being slammed with carts, pushed, prodded and shoved. There is no such thing as human decency at Walmart on Black Friday.

Today I am making a resolution - no matter what the sale, no matter what the discount, EVEN IF THEY ARE GIVING AWAY FREE MONEY, as God is my witness, I will never go to Walmart on Black Friday again!!!

That said, the rest of the stores I went to, although crowded, were not bad at all. People were polite, they helped each other out and were just generally civilized. I went to Target, JC Penney, Kohl's, Jo-Ann's, Linens and Things and a local scrapbooking store. Target rocks - they were giving out coffee and donuts to the people waiting in line, they had a security officer making sure that once the doors opened latecomers went to the end of the line and didn't try to jump in with the crowds entering. There was no mass chaos. Target: Good. Walmart: Bad.

I was waiting in line at WalMart about 4:30 am. They were out of laptops before I even made it back to electronics. I did get a digital camera I was going for and some cheap movies. It has sort of been a tradition for DD and I to go. This year she has a job at Penney's and she had to work. She was pretty upset. She said it was the last year she will ever go with me because next year she goes off to college. It makes me laugh that she thinks she will never be back. Then I was off to some other stores and really enjoyed the whole thing.

I did. And had to finish in time to get to work at 9 am. I hated every minute of it. I swear every year I won't do it again, but I always do.

I was an idiot up at 5 a.m for Kohls and then Target (they are right next to each other). Did some damage at Kohls (portable DVD player, toys, jackets, clothes) and would have stayed there to shop longer but I needed something in my stomach,so just did my list, didn't browse for clothes for my mother, etc. They had it pretty well organized with one long line feeding into the registers. They had a guy directing customers to open registers and almost all of them were open. Waited probably 15 minutes to check out.

After Kohls I went over to Target, which has a Starbucks in it, got my Christmas blend coffee and started shopping there. It was crowded in the toys aisles, but not bad. No lines at the registers. Drank my coffee and picked up the few items I needed as well as a few more  But, I'm done with my kids, my niece, my nephews, my grandfather, and I'm pretty close to being done with my mom and my brother-in-law. I didn't get home until almost 8:30 am. It was nice to shop w/o the kids. When I'm in Target I'm ususally rushing; I can't believe I spent so much time in there today!

i wanted to, but just could not get out of bed!!!! i cooked ALL day yesterday and cleaned before and after......just wiped out......so i had all good intentions of it, but rolled over.........

:hourglass (john picked this one out!~don't know why but he wanted to put it in here and he's only 3 so i let him)

I didn't and I usually don't, but I have a very bad cold so I had an excuse not to go!
My DS works at Walmart and had to be there at 5am. He works is furniture. I told him be thankful he doesn't work in electronics. He said he still has to carry out their TV's!

where in MA are you? I have yet to find a good LSS.
I live on the Northshore. The one I went to today is called Absolutely Everything in Topsfield. There aren't too many LSS's around here - mostly I make do with Mike's and AC Moore. My favorite "Local" store is actually in NH - Lighthouse Scrapbooking in Salem but that's a bit of a drive for me so I don't go often.

ok, all I have to say about the 14.99 deer... it's going back (at least the one that I haven't opened. I can't for my life get it together! (so much for easy assembly). it's a PIA! (although, it is providing kate with lots of entertainment as I sit here swearing at it.... great for putting one in a holiday mood eh? :rotfl2: ) other one is going back on monday. maggie

:cool1: not me either :cool1:

I slept in til 8:30 (since I stayed up til 3 am cleaning up from the HUGE ThANKSGIVING FEAST we had) I don't know where all those dishes & pots came from - everyone helped clean up too after we ate :flower:

I try to avoid crowds & go shopping in evenings
I guess I am a night owl
& know I am not an early bird :teeth:

(for those looking for a huge nutcracker I found one online at Bombay It's abt 6 feet tall !) :bounce:

I just checked & they are sold out, but there are smaller ones still .....

I was standing outside in single digit temps for anything. However my DD24 really really really wanted a computer for Xmas so she left the house just before 1am to stand in line at Circuit City. She froze, but managed to get the laptop for $199 with a free printer and wireless connection. Good deal on the laptop she got...But at 5 am she called to say she got a voucher, at 5:15 she called to say one of the catches was you had to take aol for a year. She called at 5:45 for my credit card number because her security code is worn off her debit card....and now I am awake.... :teeth: got hubby up and helped him get his shower (he just had surgery), made coffee, made beds, settled in to read the Disboard and she called again to say she was still in line at 7am to pay for the laptop and was going to be late for work. So now I am throwing on clothes and driving in a whiteout at 7am to go wait in line to pay for the computer for her. Got out of there at 8am on the nose....walked next door to Mikes to buy a couple little doo dads....just because!!!

All's well that ends well.....but I miss having to be out to get the deal...my kids don't ask for toys anymore.... :guilty:
