I am... as well as dh. Our dad's were pastor's in the Mennonite church. Not an easy life.

Are you still Mennonite?

I'm not a PK, but DisneyPhd ..... I just wanted to say that pic of you and your DD's is just beautiful.... i haven't been here much lately so I had not seen it.
The both look so much like you too. :flower:

Thank you, why is it so hard to get good family pictures. If one kid is looking the other is poking that one and on and on. One like it (but with DH too) should be in our Christmas cards, but I still haven't gotten them out yet.

Nice to see you, :wave2: Haven't seen you around as much lately.

Come on now. PK is so 20th century. Those of us who used to be PK's are now TO's (or Theological Offspring), the more policitally correct 21st century term. That way all of the PK's, MK's, and what have you are all grouped under the TO banner.

PK, MK, TO. It doesn't matter. Just remember we're all rotten. Or at least that's what I've always heard.

PK (or TO) since 1955 and proud of it.

We used to call them PB (preachers brat.) It seemed to fit the bill. My brothers were very much the typical out of control PK's. As the only girl and youngest, I was a bit better. :p

Funny. My baby sister says the same thing. Only I'm not buying it. :rotfl2:

Not an easy life, for sure! We have several Mennonite friends.

Actually, I (Southern Baptist) loved the life as a kid but I don't think it's as good for my own children. We've moved several states away and while I have friends at church, I will never really have what the rest of the folks there have because they've grown up together. My heart breaks over dumb stuff like hearing all of my DD's friends when here or there or all our friends did soemthing without us. For a 32 year old, I know it sounds dumb, but I can't believe how lonely it is out here. I'm tired of inviting people over, who come and have a great time and can't wait to come back... only to have them never return the favor. We are here to minister, not necessarily be ministered TO, but true friends would be nice too. For me, the life is tough. And lonely.

Sorry to rant!

Actually I think it helped that he stoped before I hit puperty. However he still was (is) an elder in the church, a guest speaker at many and a hosptial chaplin.

No, we left the Mennonite church a year ago. Though it will always be a part of my identity.

Christy, I completely understand the loneliness. My parents, and dh's parents experience the same. As a pk it's hard to develop deep friendships where you can give as well as *receive*.

PK here!

My Dad has been a minister my whole life, so I've never known anything diferent, and yes...I was the typical PK.My DS was an angel, my DB was pretty normal and I was....well....you know how it is.Not only were we all PK's, but my DF ran a Christian school also so I never went to public school. He was the headmaster & teacher :teacher: , my DM was a teacher,my uncle was a teacher, my DS became a teacher there (she's 10 years older than I am). I believe I had one or two teachers who weren't relatives, but there weren't many

I really think a lot of it has to do with people's perception of you even before you have done anything wrong.I know it was that way for me. I actualy rememebr thinking "Well fine, if they want to believe I'm so bad, I will be".And it wasn't my family, it was the congregation, bless them. It's why I've had such a hard time with organized religeon ever since. I have been finding my way back the last few years, but it's not easy.

BTW, I would never want my kids to be PK's...too hard on them.

Not a PK, here...

But...if I ever get to seminary...my DD will be a TO!!!! :sunny:
