Hi Everyone,

We're struggling between two choices, so I though we'd turn to the pros for some help. We have an EARLY flight, landing at 8:45am. Staying at Poly, (won't be able to check in that early) but we figure we'll be at the resort in time to kick off the trip with a character breakfast. But the question is....which one??? :confused3

We'll have DD6, DS7 and DD9. Would you stay at Poly for Lilo and Stich, or take a quick trip on the monorail over to Check Mickey's? The kids love both sets of characters so there's no help there.

Its attractive to just stay "home" at Poly, but then again we'll be doing the luau for dinner that evening so maybe a change of pace would be good. We're stumped....what say you?

I am one of the few on here that really is not a fan of Chef Mickey's. The CM's are rude here and the place is packed. The food was horrible the last 2 times we went and we never got to see Mickey either(we were there for over an hour) The eggs were cold and runny- watery mess. It was just gross all around... so I say no to Chef Mickey's. But you will get plenty that disagree with me. I would say maybe we had an off day - but we gave it 2 chances and it was awful both times. This is on our do not return list.
I have never done the Lilo breakfast so I can't help with that one- but I think we may try it when we go in July.

We are huge fans of CM and it is certainly a staple of our vacations, with that being said I think the idea of staying "home" for the day is very attractive. If your flight arrives at 8:45 that means that you have been in the air since at least 6:30 and you have been at the airport since at least 5 am. Not counting how long you drove to get to the airport and what time you "woke" up, if your like us you really haven't even slept. The kids will be excited and pooped and taking that first day to immerse yourself in your new "home" at a relaxed pace will leave you refreshed and ready to hit it all the next day! Besides if you land at 8:45 the soonest you'll be in DW is 9:30 (and that's pushing it) do you really want to continue to run around to eat? My suggestion is do CM the last day you can... a proper goodbye to Mickey! You'll have a great vacation either way. :thumbsup2

I think I would do the Poly. Since your staying there it might be a great way to feel at "home" and I love LIlo and Stitch.

How are you getting from the airport to the hotel? If you are using Magical Express you may well not even get to the Poly in time for breakfast. When we took it it was 2 hours from when our plane touched down before we got to our resort and we were the first ME stop. If I were you I'd consider either a character lunch in MK, like CRT or Crystal Palace, or a fun lunch like Sci Fi or Whispering Canyons so you won't be stressed about time. I hate being stressed about time on vacation

Good point!

I agree about the time issue. You land at 8:45 (on time). Then get off the plane and walk over to ME checkin. Checkin there then get on the bus. I'm thinking the absolute earliest you'll leave the airport is 9:45. Which means the absolute earliest you'll get to your hotel is 10:15 (if your the first stop). You can checkin there and get you Ticket to to the World. You might not be able to get into your room, but you can still get your tickets. Remember this is if everything goes perfectly from landing on time and no delays in the airport. I think its too much to try and do, you'd be relying on to many things out of your control to go perfectly. I'd say go for a character lunch at Crystal Palace in MK for around 130-2pm. Or just do a low key lunch at your hotel.

Thanks everyone, for sharing your experiences. From the sound of things, maybe we're being a little overly optimistic about how quickly we'll get to Poly. From your responses I think we're ruled Chef Mickey out for this trip. We'll give him a try another time.

Since we view MGM as a 1/2 day park, we were considering going there for day 1. Sci-Fi is a great idea (thanks Shelly!). From experience, are ressies normally needed there? IF we get there early enough, we'll take our shot with Ohana, and if not Sci-Fi for lunch. You have GOT to be flexible, right? :goofy:

You can check in that early, and there is always a chance your room will be ready. I would check that first for sure, then head for breakfast. I would probably stay right at the Poly for convenience, unless the room isn't ready, then I would head out to a breakfast place close to whatever park you will be visiting for the day.

Enjoy!

i'd make adrs for any place you really want to eat. at scifi in Jan( off, dead season) we waited 45 mins for a 3 pm adr .( would never go again but that's another story, some love it) however if you don't mind if you have to eat at counter maybe if everyplace is booked, you could wing it

In January our plane landed at 9:30 in the morning and we didn't get to the GF until about 11:30. I would forget breakfast that day and maybe do the lunch at Sci-Fi. You definitely need to make an ADR because every time we've been there we've heard people being turned away. Have fun!
