We recently purchased 160 points at SSR. Help us understand our points plan.

We like to vacation the week before President's day in February.

Our use year is February. We will not be going back to Disney World this year.

Should we bank our 2003 points and upgrade our room for February 2004 because we will have 320 points to use?

Are we looking at this situation correctly?

HELP!!!

Definitely bank your 2004 points. You can make your reservations next month for next February (11 months in advance). Whether or not you upgrade the room is up to you. If you feel you would be comfortable in the level of accomodations you originally planned for, then I would just book enough to use up your 2004 points, and bank your 2005 points to 2006.

Many of us discovered after we purchased that we suddenly wanted to take extra trips, or bring family/friends along on our trips. Those banked points will provide a cushion for you to use in the future.

If you don't plan on going until Feb 04, you should bank your points. Another option is to rent your 2003 points out. You'll need to figure out when you plan to make your next trip. That will help you make a decision about how many points to use in Feb 04. You could bank your 04 points and take a cruise. You just need to look ahead and see how you plan to use your points. But remember, you'll probably end up going more often than you think you will now.

I assume you mean 2004 points and you want to go in Feb 2005. Since magical beginnings is only $5 per point now, I would bank the points.

If your use year is February, then your 2004 points will expire January 31, 2005. Definitely bank them, and remember to bank before July 31. Be absolutely sure you won't use them this year, though, because once they are banked you can't touch them again until February 1, 2005. Banked points must be used by the end of the year that they're banked into.

You don't have to upgrade your rooms next year, but it is one of many options. You could go nuts, and use 2004, 2005, and 2006 points all at once for a Super-grande-sized vacation. :yo-yo:

If you were planning on staying in a studio, I say bank them and upgrade to a 1BR.

A word of warning however...start saving to purchase more points now, because once you stay in a 1BR, a studio will pale by comparison!!!! Not to say that the studios aren't wonderful, but there's something about that full kitchen,washer/dryer, and jacuzzi tub that calls to me.

DH and I always book a 1BR now, even if it's just the 2 of us. That's the problem with DVC...you get spoiled!!!!!!;)

I agree with Disney Doll. We upgraded to a 1 bed at NYE and are now totally spoiled. Will not go back to a studio.
