We will be staying at Fort Wilderness the next two weekends:yay: . I am looking for restauraunts around the world that might have a little healthier menus. We will not be attending any of the parks so restauraunts inside the parks are not an option. Not really considering buffet restaraunts with fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy if ya know what i mean. I have worked incredibly hard to lose 23 lbs over the last 7 weeks and just dont want to blow it because I'm on vacation. Guess I'm looking for good salads and broiled or baked items. Don't know if I'm being to picky or not but thought i could get some good advice from those that have had experiences at places inside the World but not at the parks. Hope to hear about some great places to try. Thanks!:thumbsup2

Last time I was at Trail's End at Fort Wilderness they had two options - the full buffet or soup and salad only. Worked out perfect for us - DH can eat anything and never gain so he was happy with the fried chicken and ribs. I was happy with the soup and salad bar.

I can't say that everything we ate at WDW was healthy :lmao: , but we did pretty well during our June trip. DH has health issues where he can't eat a lot of fried or fatty food. At CS, we split several meals of rotisserie chicken and vegetables. We skipped the skin on the chicken, ordered an extra side of the vegetables (usually carrots and green beans), and then split the chicken into two quarters. We would also get a large bowl of fruit for the whole family to split (DD7 and DS10 liked that). Some places also had salmon. I think that was at the food court in the Land pavillion at EP and Tusker House at AK.

The grilled shish kebab entrees at Marrakesh were good and had some vegetables with them. We ate fish at Akershus, and they had a nice salad bar there as well.

Go out to allears.net and take a look at the menus. That's what I did so I could be sure to find places where DH could eat.

Overall, I was truly impressed at the availability of "real food" and not yucky overprocessed fast food at the parks. I only wish our Six Flags close to home would figure that out. DH can't eat there at all. :sad1:

Oh, darn, I just reread your post and saw where you won't actually be IN any of the parks and were looking for out-of-the park recommendations. Well, we liked Earl of Sandwich quite a bit. You can get healthy sandwiches or salads there, if you're willing to travel to DTD. The food courts at the Poly and the CR have some healthy options. The WL food court has some salads, but they don't seem as healthy overall as salads elsewhere.

Good luck! With some research, I'm sure you can find places you want to eat.

WPE in DTD has awesome soups and salads.
