OK, definitely a PW party at MGM on 12/9?!?

For sure? Absolutely? Does anyone have a link that states this, like on the PW site? I couldn't find any specific reference to date and time. Is it an assumption based on last year's schedule or are there PW parents on this board who have the 2005 schedule in hand? What normally happens - the park closes at 6 pm for the party? Do they have a Fantasmic that night?

I am frustrated that Disney is denying this party will occur. I called to make additional ADRs today and heard the spiel from a FOURTH CM that no party was scheduled, no early closing, Fantasmic is going on at 7 pm. We have a FDP that night and I am concerned about being turned away - it's our only opportunity to see Fantasmic - or eating our dinner and being told to leave. Anyway, this CM tried to be helpful and called over to guest services and to WWOS. She was told: "All Pop Warner events will take place at WWOS. No parties scheduled at MGM. Period. End of story."

What gives? Disney doesn't want the non-PW people to know about this? If the party IS happening, it was most certainly scheduled a long time ago, right? Why not be open about it? Do they not care that their customers might be turned away that night because their schedule isn't accurate? (This is all assuming there will be a party, of course!).

I guess this is kind of a rant and I know no one can read Disney the Corporation's collective minds though we can speculate all we want, right?

Anyway, if anyone has something in writing that says that a 2005 MGM party is happening, please post it. Thanks!

We haven't booked our pop warner reservations but are in process, but coaches assured us that our reservations will include tickets to party at 7 pm on Friday 12/9. Supposeldly it is always on the Friday night of Pop Warner week. They did say however, that not everything will be open, so may not have Fantasmic anyway.

They did have it last year on the Friday night of Pop Warner week. I remember the CM in the ToT gift shop telling us that he had to work the party that night for thousands of teenage cheerleaders and football players.

He looked like he was going to cry.

Hello,

I was at MGM last year and after F! when we were walking down back to the main entrance we stopped to let the crowds ease up a little and stated chatting with a cast member. We could see that they were setting up for something and I asked them what was happening.

That section of the park was closing early for a private party (can't remember who it was for). However, they still had F! and the park was still opened up for regular hours except that section.

So, they might still do the same thing this year, who knows. They are not showing that the park is closing early and I was even thinking of going there to see the lights at 6pm.

According to the PW website, there is a party Friday night at MGM. You can download the chaperones checklist and the entry forms and it is right there, in writing. I don't know if the park is closed, but there is definetly a party. Hope this helps. We will be there 12-4 to 12-14 and are planning to avoid MGM that evening.

The MGM Party for Pop Warner is on Friday, December 9, 2005. Only ticket holders for this special event will be permitted to enter MGM. The park closes for the public earlier in the evening and will reopen to Pop Warner Guests.

We went last year, and hope to go again this year, to this event. We had to enter on the far right side and we were taken up the back ramp that leads back up to Fantasmic.

All participates of the Pop Warner Super Bowl including coaches and parents that are booked with the team receive the MGM ticket in their package. If you go to the Pop Warner National Website and then go under championships, it will take you to a page regarding this year's superbowl. In the forms section are links to manuals. In these manuals contain the specific information about the party being Friday, December 9th and it begins at 8 p.m.

Also, on Disney's Website, you can see that Fantasmic will begin on December 9th at 6:30 p.m. Obviously they will show Fantasmic and then clear the park before the Pop Warner Guests are allowed to enter. The park is listed as closing on this date at 7:00 p.m. which is an hour earlier than normal time during that time of year.

There is definately a party. just got home from work and there is a message on my machine from Disney Dining asking if we can change our 6:20 Prime Time ADR to 6:00 on Dec 9th as the park is closing for a private function!

Oh well - I guess I'll call them back tomorrow

Thanks, the change in time on the website must be a recent addition to the schedule because it certainly didn't say that last time I checked. I am not sure we'll have time to eat with our FDP and still make Fantasmic now. Oh crud. Guess another call to Disney is in order.

ETA: Sure enough, now our dining time - that I called and called to score after originally getting a 4:30 pm time that seemed too early - is a bit close to getting to Fantasmic, esp. on a night when it's probably going to be more crowded than usual. I am so frustrated with Disney on this one. The CM I talked to just now said "They don't tell us nothin'" How sad for CMs' morale that they feel this way; seems like they get it from both ends - both being uninformed then bearing the responsibility of dealing with irate customers.

I am thinking we'll show up a bit early for our ADR and hope for the best.

i was in pop warner and in '03 i went to party and it was horrible... there is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay crowded. since they only open like 3 rides the lines are superlong and if i remeber rigth you cant get a fastpast..and there is a DJ dance party but the hat.. i

Im wondering if I should change plans. We are having dinner at Sci Fi at 5 and then were planning on seeing the Osbourne Lights. Do you think there will be time for this or will they throw us out before we are able to see the lights?

I actually just emailed Alana at BC IPO about this very topic. We were planning on seeing the Osbourne lights that night after our dinner at Spoodles. Her response was this (in a nutshell), MGM is closing one hour early, at 7:00. The Osbourne lights come on around 6:00.

So, given that info, you should still be able to see the lights after your dinner at Sci-Fi at 5:00. I, however, am going to plan on seeing the lights on a different evening.
