Any Diser's live here? What can you tell me about this area. My Hershey post got buried, so any Hershey info is also great!

DH is interviewing for a job in that area. I have no clue what city to begin to look at. Any suggestions?

Have a great night!

Small town living. Cute, quiet. Has a small university. Hmmm, what else...Close to Hershey Park, Amish Country. Not much else.

Good Luck!

Live close to Lebanon

My thoughts as a "city girl" when I first moved to this area(Central Pa)

Missed the diversity, culture that big cities offered.
Great dining choices also lacking- think Pa Dutch food BLAND
People not as open or quick to warm up.
People seem more plain and frugal.
Home Schooling is Big out here.

On the plus side++++

Don't miss the traffic you encounter around bigger cities.
Seems better if you are raising a family here- schools, cost of living etc...
More BANG for your buck when it comes to real estate
Hershey, Pa is a nice tourist town to live near-you can smell chocolate

Just my 2 cents.

It takes some getting used to if you like the variety and culture of a bigger city. Many others I've talked to who've relocated from the Northeast and big cities feel the same way.

After 8 years and still here, I've learned to adjust so it's not all that terrible.

As someone who was born and raised in this area, I guess it would seem a little boring to those used to very urban living. I will say that there are some very good restaurants, and some "culture"-you just have to look a bit harder to find it here. And remember, NYC, DC, and Philly are all just a short car, train or bus-ride away-that's what is so great about this area. We live in the "country", but we are so centrally-located between all those great places. I also think that people here are very friendly and willing to help others. We live in Eastern Lebanon County, and the schools here are pretty good, as well. I think it's a nice place to live, if a little laid-back-certainly a nice place to raise children.

I would suggest looking for houses in the Palmyra/Hershey area, Cornwall, or Eastern Lebanon County. ;) Good Luck! HTH
