Hey everyone! I have a ressie for the WL in April for a Courtyard view. This is our first time there and I was wanting to go with the best view possible. But after looking at all the pics on the WL FAQ thread, it looks like there are some pretty good views with the woods view. Now I am wondering if I should save money and just get a woods view? It will be DH, DD 6, DD 3, and DD 2, and I. I imagine we would not be spending a ton of time in the room because we will be wanting to be in the parks. So I am thinking naps, and that is it. The difference in price is 46.00 a night, which will be a difference of like 350.00 the time we are there.

What is everyone's opinion? Am I just being cheap? Should I just get the Courtyard, I am just afraid that I will get a "bad" woods view. Thank you!!

Cristen, why don't you request a woods view facing the Villas at Wilderness Lodge? I honestly don't think any of the views at WL are bad views, but my mom and I had views of the villas, and it was very nice. For my and DH's honeymoon, I requested a Courtyard view, and our balcony was one of the few with the solid railing, so we couldn't see anything while sitting, so I was a little disappointed in that. The good thing about having a room facing the villas is that you can hear the music that is played outdoors there from your balcony. Some may not like it, but I love it. It's sort of like old-time cowboy music. I think it plays from 8am until 10pm. As soon as I hear it, I just feel immense joy, and really feel like I am home. The other benefit to that location is that you can take the side exit out of the building that is very close to the path to the villas, and it's a short walk to the quiet pool, the beach, and the wrap-around porch with the rockers where you can just sit and relax, soaking in the magic.:D

Unless overlooking the main pool or the lake is important, then you may want to save the $$$ and go with the woods view. We had a woods view last time and it was very nice. We were in the north wing and had a nice view of the otter pond.

As the above poster stated, it really depends upon what is important to you.

We had a 'woodsview' when we were there in October- it was mostly a 'roof with a few trees' kind of view. It was quiet but not so scenic. However, it was right off the lobby- just over the check in desk on the fifth floor. I loved opening my door and seeing the lobby every time. It was just around the corner from the elevator which was a plus for ease of traveling with children. For my next trip, I'm even considering making a request to have a similar room off the lobby.

Your point about not being back in the room very much is good too- our trip was six days and I sat on our balcony all of 2 hours the entire trip.

Some of the 'woodsviews' do have a nice view of the MK castle and Monorail.

You will have a great time what ever room you end up with!

Have fun!

It all depends on what YOU consider to be a good view! Some adore the falls with the sound of the water and views of the Electric Water Parade. Others prefer the silence of the woods view while viewing otters play in their environment. Others will request courtyard view Southwing so...they can have the falls, pool and fireworks. Answer a few questions, and I'll run it through a data base-see what rooms come up!
Smoking?
room configuration? 2 queens or 1 queen and Bunkbeds
View of castle?
View of Otter Pond?
View of Fireworks?
View of Electric Water Parade?
How important is it to be near the elevators?
Prefer Courtyard or woods?

Thank you everyone. I know that it is going to come down to what I think is important. And at first I thought, "this is the first time, and I may not get back there for a long time, so I am going with the best." The thought of having a view with the lake and EWP and all that sounded great, but then I started thinking, how often am I going to be looking out my window, really? We are only going for 6 days, and I figure we are going to try and see as much as we can.

WOW! Cindy you have a database that pops up rooms for you?! That is awesome. Here goes:

Smoking? No

room configuration? 2 queens or 1 queen and Bunkbeds? Bunkbeds

View of castle? Yes

View of Otter Pond? I'm not sure what this looks like. Is there a site with a pic? Sounds like it would be cool.

View of Fireworks? I imagine I would not be around for the fireworks, I will be in a park. But it wouldn't hurt.

View of Electric Water Parade? That's the thing. I thought I wanted the view, but can't I just as easily go down to the beach to watch it? Would it be better at the beach?

How important is it to be near the elevators? Somewhat.

Prefer Courtyard or woods? I think I prefer Courtyard, but I saw that view from room 5032 I think with the MK and the monorail, I liked that!!

Thank you SO much for everyone's help.

HI! We were on the second floor (otter pond side) and we could see the fireworks from the MK! My mom had a courtyard view and it was really nice. Either way, I'm sure you will LOVE the lodge. It's really something!!!

Truthfully, I would save the $$ & book a woods view.

We had a crtyd view out last trip. It was nice, but truthfully, I don't think it was worth the extra money (only $200 as we were on the fairytail plan). The room was nice, but it faced the quiet pool & villas instead of the main pool.

Enjoy your stay!!! Your little ones will love it!!

Room 6012 Woods view offers a great view of the fireworks, castle and otter pond. It has 1 queen/bunks

Room 4145 & 4165 Courtyard located in the South Wing has a great view of Fireworks, castle and Electric water Parade. It has queen/bunks

Rooms 5153 & 6163 Courtyard view rooms also located in South Wing have 2 queen beds and have a great view of fireworks, castle and electric water parade.

All these rooms are non smoking and relatively close to the elevators!
Hope this helps!

Just stayed there last month and LOVED it!!!!! I had a "woods" view room and the picture below was my view. I loved this room. For more pictures of the room & view, click on the link below and go under the WL link. The room is next to the elevators, but I found it very quiet. This was a quick walk to the boat dock, pool, main lobby and just a little bit further to the bus stop. I found the transportation to be good and the service was excellent.

LOL..Terk..I was just going to tell her about Room 5032..also 5014 has a view of the castle..

Queens/No smoking!

cristen,

If you have Standard, Woodview, Inner Coutyard or Villas Quite Pool Courtyard you will love the WL.

One sugestion I will make is, if you do spend the extra money on Courtyard View request an Inner Courtyard. Like Kimberle noted the "Courtyard View of the Villas and Quite Pool" just doesn't have the same BANG that the Inner View offers.

We've stayed in several different types of rooms at WL. From deluxe suites to the "woods view" rooms and each one was fabulous!

In fact, my Hubby actually prefers the woods view rooms :)

Thank you Cindy for taking the time to find those rooms for me. If I wanted to request one, do I submit my request 4 days before?

Also thank you everyone else. I know I will have a great time no matter what. But there is always this thing in the back of my mind telling me that I need to have the best of everything while I am there. Then the practical side of me says no you don't, you will love it no matter what!

This is the thing. I think I am overplanning. I am driving myself crazy with all the details. I never do this with DL, I just go and do my thing. But here, it is a bit overwhelming, and I want to make sure everything is perfect. When I know I should just go and have fun. I asked my DH what view he would like better, he said he could care less what we see out the window. I really don't think we will be sitting out on the patio at any time, and as far as the fireworks go, I think we will never be in the room to see them. I just don't want to look out the one time and see a parking lot, and the pics of the views of the courtyard and lake is SO pretty!! See my problem?

I think I will save the money on the room, do the woods view, and spend the rest of the money on good food!!!

And if all I see are trees from my room, it will make me feel like I am here in Colorado again. :p

Thanks! Cristen
