Oil spill question

Please don't flame me. I have a question about the response to the oil spill. I am wondering are there a lot of groups going down there to help clean up or is it basically BP's responsibility at this time? I'm just wondering because there were a lot of fundraisers for Hati and groups that went to help. I really can't believe the media hasn't made a bigger deal out of this before now. I am just beggining to see the graphic pictures. I've heard about it before now, but the heartbreaking pics have not been out there.

It's extremely hard to predict what will hold the media or nations attention and what won't.

Why is it when a blonde caucasian child gets abducted it makes national headlines but not so if it's a minority child?

Haiti may have had a bigger impact because of the human destruction whereas here it's more of an environmental impact and let's face it, for the most part the environment is waaaay down on the list of fascinating news stories.

In reality I think the only reason that the oil spill is now garnering a lot of attention is that 1) it's been going on for 40+ days. 2) BP has been totally inept in fixing it.

Also remember that 11 men lost their lives in this tragedy and they have been all but forgotten.
