So happy I found this thread! Will be my first meet up, me and my almost 9 year old. We are currently booked for just Saturday, but we are now flying in earlier Friday so I am debating adding Friday too, but it may be to much for DD to do to late nights.

My plan is a low key morning Saturday, pool and relax and be ready to head in at 5, we don’t have day tickets and let out APs expire, so that’s our only universal time this quick weekend trip!

She told me her main goals are Hulk, Hagrids, and Velocicoster. I may die, look for me trying not to vomit.

Given airline (un)reliability and questioning 2 late nights, I would just keep it at Saturday tickets and make the most of it from 5 to 1:30. Travel days can be exhausting too.

I’m excited!! I’ve never done a meet up and really excited to get to do it with her!

Saturday will be the only relaxing part (for the morning). We will head to Disney Sunday and Monday! She wants to do everything… she is totally my child!!

Welcome to our meetup thread and to meetups! My family absolutely loves the meetup experience, this will be number 4 for us I think I would stick to 1 night, esp since you're doing more things over the weekend and you're just flying in on Friday. take a nap on Saturday for sure before you come to the parks. My youngest will be 13 when we come in June this time, and in the past it was a struggle for her after about 11 lol she made it, but we were slow moving. I think this time will be better for sure, she just needs her sleep! You guys are going to have a great time, let us know if you have any questions!

Good Morning and Happy Friday OI friends!

We have just 63 more days until night 1 of the June meetup, so excited and can't wait! I randomly checked the hotels for the meetup rate at 6 am yesterday and finally snagged Fri and Sat night for Hard Rock! WHOOHOO! As you know it's my favorite so far lol so for now we have 1 night at Cabana Bay, 2 at Hard Rock, and then 4 at Royal Pacific We kept CB for one night because we don't like to arrive the day of the meetup, after the long drive, so we'll have a place to crash and rest for a decent rate! It was kind of comedic because I tried various dates to see if I could get HRH for the whole time but it was not available, so I decided to take the fri/sat nights, well somehow HRH was available for the 7th lol and I booked an extra night so then I had to go back and cancel the weird extra night. I am not even sure how I did it!

Anyway, I hope you're all doing well, we're prepping for some severe weather again tonight, overnight no less. no sleep for me. We had some come through I think last weekend as well, that pretty down some pretty devastating tornadoes in MS before heading here. It was not bad here, but it could have been. Between spring severe weather and my last classes this semester, I am stressed. I really need this upcoming vacation more than I realize! I am off, have some school work to finish up today and for the weekend, I will check back in later!

55 Days to go! ​

Time is ticking by, too fast and not fast enough at the same time! I am in my last 3.5 weeks of school, and have so much to do before the end of this month, that I don't get a lot of time to think about the meetup lol sad face! Once May 5 hits, that's the end of my term, thinking Cinco de Mayo may be a little celebrated this year haha, I can focus on my dd's graduation, several May birthdays, my dh and I's 23rd anniversary, and then our trip! WooHoo!

I need to make some dining reservations too, we always want to eat at our fav places, and I just find it easier to have those set. We will eat at Finnegans for sure, we usually eat at Toothsomes, Anjitos, and we want to try Cowfish this time too. What about you guys?

HI ALL!!! A week after the Universal trip with the highschool band, I was on a family cruise!! Took our kids & grands on a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas. Left out of Charleston, SC....1st visit there......such a beautiful city!!! Hope to go back with just adults sometime.

NOW....I can start really concentrating on the Universal trip with OI Meetup!!! Can't wait. Will be me & my 15yr old DGD's 4th meetup. This will be my 11yr old DGD's 1st trip to Universal........and she's my thrill rider so, I'm so excited to be taking her!!!

Love hearing everyone's plans. We didn't get to the Speakeasy last time so, not sure we will do this new treat this time. will depend on where we are at the time.

Frances, glad you got HRH!! and yes, you are going to need a vacation after what all you have coming up!!
I will say, I actually had grabbed a premier room at a passholder price that was only about $30 over OI prices. I did change when I could lower it. but, was surprised to see that.

Oh how was the cruise?? Did you have a great time? Remind me where you went again lol I am so excited for your 11 yr old dgd to come to uso and the meetup! She is going to have a blast.

I am super excited for HRH and the end of the night not having to get in line for a bus etc. I tried to get HRH or RP for the rest of our time under the AP but it was not available when I checked. This works just fine lol Yes, I need that vacation, stat! I finished up my praxis tests this week, passed all 3! Now I have the big 4 hour, foundations of reading test coming up in May. Not looking forward to that one, but cannot wait to say I am absolutely done, minus the student teaching/etdpa in the fall. I am looking at a grad trip for myself, but going to London in summer 2024, I hope! I wanted to go this year, but since my 18 yr grads in May, then my oldest is getting married in Oct, I don't have the extra $$ right now. Kids! lol

DH & I cruise often but, never with the family and never on Spring Break Week (for AL).........and I will never do that week again...LOL The ship was packed. But, I'm used to lines due to Disney & Universal so, I know how to go with the flow. Highlight was swimming with the dolphins....so fun!!!

wow...52 days away!!! cannot wait. yes, my 11yr old DGD loves roller coasters so, she will love Universal compared to Disney rides. Just wish she knew more about Harry Potter stuff. She just isn't interested. She will like the rides & doing magic tricks but, the rest will be wasted on her. She will love being with me & her cousin so, she'll be super excited.

You asked about restaurants everyone likes.......we really like Bigfire, Toothsome, Hard Rock & Leaky Cauldron. Last trip, we ate at Lombard's & really enjoyed it. The waitress there was awesome, I kept her name & told her I would look her up in June. Sent in a great review for her. I haven't tried Cowfish yet.

UGH, I hit a button on my computer somehow and lost the post I just typed up. :/ That's how my morning is going to go apparently. Sigh. anyway!

Glad you had a great trip, minus all the people lol but tis the life of spring break trips. We went last year to Chattanooga, I was worried but it was fantastic, so quiet. We went to the Aquarium and it was dead, like we literally were the only people in there, it was amazing! Normally you can't even get to the windows to see fish etc, but we had the whole place to ourselves. Took our time, really enjoyed it.

I have about 18 days left in this term, a billion assignments, I cannot wait for May to come. I mean seriously. UGH. London is a bucket list trip for me, and I am not 100% we'll get there next year but that is my goal. I need to start pricing it so I can figure out if we can go or not, but there is so much other stuff going on right now. Fingers crossed!

Maybe she'll change her mind one she hits the WWoHP area, I mean it is pretty amazing to take in. Our whole family loves HP, so we spend a lot of time there, esp towards the end of the night when it starts to clear out. I love walking around with my last butterbeer taking in the sights and atmosphere.

Leaky Cauldron has been hit or miss with us, we might try again this time, but last time I was ugh. same with The Three Broom sticks. I need to get on trying to make a few reservations, maybe this weekend I can work on that.

Meetup shirts should be coming soon, we've bought one the last few times, we'll see if we like the design or not lol It's just fun for another souvieneer and one I will wear

I am more than ready for the meetup to get here, although today I went to book the dog boarder and she was already full so now I have to find somewhere else. And she's a pit so sometimes that can be a problem.

I need a break, not that a meetup is at all relaxing, but it's not work or kids practices. Currently I am taking them to wrestling practice about 30 min away on Mon and Tues from 6-8. Then Thursday is football skills something or other, also 30 min away but in the other direction. I work 730-4 so its a rush to leave, pic them up at daycare feed them, homework and get them to where ever we are going. But we live in the middle of nowhere and go to a super small school so if you want your kids to do anything besides daddy-ball you have to go somewhere else. Thankfully my oldest will be in 7th next year and will have actual coaches for sports and maybe that will be more benificial.
