Ohio DIS'ers, any new info on Cedar Points Dragster?

We were planning on going next month, and just called to reserve the room on Sunday.

Of course the accident happened then.

Is there any new local news about the coaster? Is it still down? Any projected news on reopening date?


Any news would be appreciated.

No new news that I've heard. They're replacing the cable that was involved as a precaution (they're words, not mine ) and I haven't seen an estimate of how long the ride will be down.

Not from Ohio but very close. I have heard nothing other that what Bob mentioned...park officials are replacing the cable that was involved in the accident and the ride is closed indefinitely. Given the history of the ride since it opened last year, it's really a crap shoot whether or not it will be operational next month - I really think it has been down as much as it has been up. I'm a Cedar Point season pass holder and on our first trip to the park this year in May, DW and I rode Top Thrill 3 times, yet last Thursday it was shut down for most of the day.

Top Thrill is definately a rush - 17 seconds of pure adrenaline, however, I still like Millennium Force, Magnum and Raptor just as much if not better. Don't despair if it's shut down!

The news last night said that FIVE people were injured, and that none of them were taken to the hospital. They were treated at First Aid and released. They have given no indication when the ride will be back in operation.

Hopefully your not planning your trip just for riding it.... The news last night said they are contacting the manufacture to come & look at it, so who knows how long it will be down.

I just looked on their web-site & could not find any mention of the ride being closed. You would think they would put something up about it being open/closed.. maybe I did not see it though....
