I live in Michigan and have flown many times to Orlando by myself. But I have never gone thru Chicago-O'Hare. It sounds too busy and the price of the tickets have not warrented me going that way. But--every fare I check for this October has going thru O'Hare chepaer. Lots cheaper!! Please tell me that If I purchase tickets thur this airport that I will not get lost or stranded! I have gone thru Atlanta alone, no problem. But for some reason the thought of going thru Chicago freaks me out!!

Why not wait until Southwest releases their Oct. fares and fly through Midway?

We fly through O'Hare on American a lot. Depending on the airline, there can be a bit of a walk to go from one concourse to another. However - if you have gotten through Atlanta ok with it's subway between terminals, O'Hare is a breeze.

Southwest does not fly from my home airport. I would either have to drive to Detroit (2 1/2 hours away) or drive to Chicago (3 hours away).

I'm at O'Hare about every two weeks - I was there last night and will be there again tomorrow.

It's a breeze. I've flown through many major US airports and O'Hare seems to work well. I can't speak for American as I don't fly them, but you should be ok if you are not connecting from an international flight, etc.

I would take O'Hare over Atlanta, Dulles, or LAX any day.

I fly into Ohare to attend medical meetings at Rosemont. Ohare isn't so bad, compared to Atlanta, which we avoid at all costs. I guess you would be flying, not driving, and changing planes? I have never driven there, only flown and then taken the shuttle to the hotel/convention center. I wouldn't want to drive there.

How far are you from Flint? Airtran flies direct to Orlando daily. Going out of Flint is an absolute breeze. Easy checkin, boarding, luggage claim, and parking. Might be worth it to try and fly from there. :teeth:

You can also check to see how close your gates might be if you are changing planes at O'Hare. Go to the airline website and check the flight for today or tomorrow, and it will tell you the gates (on most sites). While the actual gate may change day of your flight, you can see what terminal the airline uses for your flights.

I did this recently on United for someone flying international. Then I was able to give him advice about changing terminals. (I've also checked the monitors at O'Hare several times and the gates and terminals were the same each time in his case)

If you are flying domestic you may still have a terminal change ie with United the smaller planes often fly in/out of the F gates, while the TED flights fly out of the B gates.

Then you can check out the airport map to see exactly where you need to go.

First, we have never had trouble in OHare--though we have had to run to a gate since planes from smaller airports always seem to come into a different terminal than the departing flight for MCO! One other idea, Allegiant Air is showing $89 each way fares for their direct flights from Lansing to Orlando--though they fly into Sanford Airport in Orlando (see other posts).

Even though we use O'Hare only about once every 2 years, I don't find the layout confusing -- everthing seems well marked.

:sunny:

We flew into O'Hare last summer with 29 kids on a tour--no problem! If you can go through Atlanta airport, O'Hare will be a piece of cake :thumbsup2
