Dh and I are here celebrating our 10th anniversary and we ate there last night. We both got leis, I think probably because of our anniversary. They had all the kids get up at one point to hula dance and all the kids that participtated got leis. I bet you could ask your server for one and they'd happily oblige.
Leis are not given out to all diners.....they do however give them out during the children's activities and hula lessons. Parents are encouraged to join their children during the hula....so my DH usually gets dragged up there by my DD and receives a lei.
On a side note.....when you first enter the Polynesian make sure to check over by the TV area to the left of the doors....they usually have piles of leis on the counter next to the TV. I have picked one up on several occasions for my DD.....CM's are usually in the area and do not mind if you take one.
I ate there on the 11th and everyone got lei'd. The lady who sings was walking around with an arm full of leis giving one to everyone with most of the kids getting two or three.
It could be because it was really busy with long wait times and they were just trying to do something nice for people. Who knows
Too funny! First few times we didnt get one we asked one yr and they gave them to us, then for our honeymoon last yr they gave us two. I would just ask shouldnt be a problem especially for a child
We asked the CMs a question at the front desk and they gave us all leis. If you don't get one at 'Ohanas, you can ask the front desk or a CM in the lobby. I'm sure they'll know where you can get one.
