O'Hanas

My famly was just there last week, and it was our first dining experience at WDW. We loved the friendliness of the staff and the family style/Hawaiian style theming. Everyone called you "cuz" for cousin, because Ohana means "family" in Hawaiian.

We got sticky chicken wings (delish!), salad, great bread. Then the waiters come around with big skewers of meat asking if you want any. It almost was like a Brazilian style steakhouse the way they carry those things of pork, turkey, steak, and shrimp around.

We laughed at the "goofy math" our waiters would use: when we asked for 4 shrimp to be put on our plate, he would give us 5 or 6. He called that goofy math. :) We also loved the coconut races and the dessert was awesome!

We definitely would go back.

All I can tell you is I ate so much of the appetizers (bread, wings, salad etc) that I couldn't eat any of the meat skewers...pace yourself!

Sounds good!!! Was planning on making an ADR for Ohana's breakfast and dinner for our trip in March. We have eaten there several times for breakfast but never for dinner.

Hope you like meat cause there is lots of it. And it just keeps on commin

We are on the short list of people who do not like this place. I think we may have just had a bad CM.... but, we were there over 3 hours for dinner. We didn't get any "refills" on anything - there were 7 of us, so we didn't have enough noodles or wings. They brought the steak and shrimp while we were up doing some of the activities. When we got back to the table, we had 2 cold shrimp each and a little nugget of meat. We never saw them at all, and they never came back.

I think everyone should give it a chance, but we will not return.

'Ohanas not O'Hanas - not an Irish place.

Our favorite place to eat. It is located in the Poly resort.

Besides all that was said above about the great food - make sure to save room for dessert. Bread pudding with carmel sauce and a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Exactly the same thing happens to me!!!

It's our favorite TS restaurant...you'll love it!!! :goodvibes

Its good, but nothing fabulous. We go every couple of years. I agree about pacing yourself so you can partake in the skewer meats. Its definitely a place to be tried at least once.

This was a place we were really excited to try during our September trip this year.. but actually were disappointed..

This was mostly because were very picky eaters and wanted to be adventerous and try new things... well that didn't work out well for us (specifically me). The major reason I won't go again is because the food is just too much and not to my liking. Check the menu and make sure the food is what you'll enjoy. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with it.. it was just way too much for us and and nothing I particularly liked... DBF said he would go again if he gets the chance.. but he most likely won't because I wouldn't try it again..

Minor reasons.. our CM was not very friendly.. and the host who took us to our table was TOO friendly.. we ran into alot of other, excellent CMs in other restaurants who seems to look us over and anticipate what level of disney dining experience we were looking for... and the CMs at Ohanas just didnt seem to get it..

I did not like the entertainment (the lady and conga line).. we didn't bring kids.. but we usually have fun no matter where we go in Disney regardless of that (we did a character breakfast without kids and had a BLAST)... but this was not fun for us.. definitely too loud and I didn't like the entertainer (just too over the top).. it seemed like others around us were having an excellent time though.. so this too could just be a matter of taste...

anyways.. one thing I will say is that I came down with a stomach bug 2 days later while still at WDW.. now it could have been a number of things.. but I honestly just didn't feel right after that meal and if I had to self-diagnose.. I would say Ohanas was the reason.. just from the feeling I got after leaving..

so those were my thoughts on Ohanas.. they are definitely the minority though.. I just wanted to share..

different strokes for different folks tho.. :thumbsup2

We'll be there next Thursday and can't wait to try the new dishes. It's been so long since we've been there or even to Disney. Can't come quick enough since that's our anniversary too.

We have reservations in March -- never been, so excited to see the positive reviews!:thumbsup2

I absolutely love O'hana. So yummy! My DH, though, thinks they serve "too much meat." :rotfl:

I had a yummy banana dessert when we were there...do they not have that anymore?

Do they still have the yummy potatoes at Ohana?

Unfortunetly, no. They have noodles that we thought were just ok. I added the peanut sauce to them, and they tasted a little better. I wish they would bring the fattening potatoes back. They were delicious!!

bummer - :(
I saw the the all ears menu was updated as of 10/08 and so I thought they had brought them back -

Isn't that an Irish pub? ;)

:rotfl:

We went there on the night of a MNSSHP last time we were there and got to see the special fireworks show. We didn't have a window seat, but still had a good view. They dimmed the lights a little and played the soundtrack for the show. There was a lot of activity going on with kids and music being played, but not so much that it was overwhelming.

We thought the food was fantastic! DH loves Brazilian style restaurants, so I knew it would be a hit when I picked it. I can't say there was anything about it we DIDN'T like. We're going back with my mom and DD in Feb! I think this will be a must-do for us from now on. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
