I've heard there are some really neat stuff for the kids at O'Hanas, such as coconut races etc. Can anybody tell me the earliest and the latest times we can dine and participate in these activities? I have two possible days I can do this, and one would have to be around 4 and the other around 7. Thanks.

I don't have all the particulars for you, but we ate there around 7-ish and they had the races, hula hoops, ec. about 1/2 way through dinner. I think its done periodically, while there are enough kids in the restaurant. I would think 4 pm might be a little early (isn't that when they first open for dinner?)

We had a 6:50pm ps - and arrived at the poly about an hour early. We walked around the grounds, watched the lighting of the tourches out front, enjoyed the lobby, and found O'Hannas. By 6:15pm (the first time we walked by) everything was in full swing.

My DD (7) did both the coconut races and the hula-hoop contest during dinner. The coconut races involved pushing a coconut (not sure if it was real) around the wooden floor with a small broom. Each child (first or last) was congratulated and given a gummy worm to take back to the table. If your child is small or doesn't like being out of your sight you will need to walk around the edge of the floor. The staff made sure each child got back to the correct table.

The night we were there mom or dad were allowed to assist very small children (they lined up last). I had read somewhere that parents were not allowed to assist - some of the liitle ones were very cute. Also, there were so many kids they did the hula hoop contest by age. Both of these are wonderful photo ops.

My impression is they start this about 45 minutes after opening.

My DD had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back (she also loved the food).

Hi sters. I'm guessing that they do the kid contests once an hour or so. For us, it happened to coincide with the very beginning of our meal, so DD and DS had an unusual appetizer - half a dozen or so gummy worms apiece. Maybe that's why they're so eager to go back this year! Make sure that you ask for a children's meal if your children aren't carnivores. They had basic chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, etc. to offer the children, but it seems that some people aren't told that this is an option. In our case I knew to ask, but our waitress offered right away. All of us (kids were 6 & 9 last year) really enjoyed the meal.

Just as an FYI-- I happened to call just yesterday to make a PS for Ohana and they don't open until 5 (at least on October 3rd!).

Can't help with the times of the coconut races, though.
