We have never eaten at either of these places and would like to try one on our next trip. It will me, my husband and our 3 yr old son. Which would you recommend? Which is the better food? Which is more suitable for my son? Thanks for all your opinions.

We have done both. We enjoyed the Luau much more than Ohanas, but our kids were a bit older at the time. The food at the Luau was great for us but the kids didn't like it. They ordered off the childrens menu for macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets. The kids loved the fire dancers the most. We have done the Luau on 3 seperate trips so I guess we enjoyed it.

I've never done the Luau, so I can't comment on that, but have dined at O'Hana's and really enjoyed it. The food & service was excellent and the CM's have different games for the kids to play. I think you'd enjoy it!

We've done both. And really enjoyed both.....
but if we HAD to choose one....it would be Ohana's.:D
The Luau was a lot of fun, but we weren't completely thrilled with the food. It was very good, but not every one in the family was that happy with it.
On the other hand we ALL loved the food at Ohana's and really filled up.:D
As for the show.....the Luau was a blast, but it just seemed like we were so jammed into the place and it was really loud because of all the people.
At Ohana's it was much more relaxing. And we had our PS at one hour before the fireworks. :D So we were just getting to desert when the fireworks went off!!!:D It was great!!!!:D
The games were alot of fun for DD too.:D

IMHO....with a 3 yo....I'd do Ohana's.
But what ever you decide....you will have a great time!

My girlfriend and I have been to both. We both liked Ohana alot. I didn't care much for the Luau (but then again I've been to them in Hawii). She thought the Luau was fun; however, we both agree that the food at the Luau was OK, but the food at Ohana was much better.
Ohana has (in my opinion) a great family atmosphere, not to mention the luau will set you back a fair amount of money.
If you're looking for somethign a little "extra" during dinner, try to schedule dinner at Ohana so that you can see the fireworks from your table.

I've tried both, and they are good. The Luau has its high point for kids--they are asked to join the cast to dance on stage--but, all in all, the show is a little advanced for a 3-year-old. Plus....well, you're on vacation, but there is a pretty hefty price difference. The Luau costs $50 per adult and $25 for your 3-year-old. That includes beer, wine, tax and gratuity. Ohana's costs $25 per adult and $10 for your son, but does not include alcoholic beverage and gratuity.
