Which do you think would be better? It will just be my hubby and I; he is a big meat eater! Looking at the menu at Ohanas, not sure what I'd eat there except the beef. Looking for any input!!!

Thanks!

I'm not a big meat eater, but I can tell you that 'Ohana has meat, and plenty of it! I would definitely recommend it for a big meat-eater.:thumbsup2 IMO, the side dishes were pretty good, so if you will at least like the beef, I think you'll be satisfied. It's all served family style/all you care to eat.

There is entertainment at 'Ohana that is geared towards children. It's pretty cute, BUT you may want to request a seat away from the aisle where they do the races and such as that area is pretty hectic with kids. If you can get it, a seat by the window is nice.

As far as Kona, my friend had a steak there that she raved about, if that helps.

Have a nice trip :goodvibes

Never been to Ohana but Kona was great! It had tons of meat & lots of sushi which I loved. We got a coconut chicken dish which was great too. The Hawaiian bread they give you at the beginning was delicious (and they gave us extra to have in the parks lol). And we got a banana chocolate dessert of some sort that was fabulous!! It was very fancy (although it didnt look as fancy as Ohana's when I passed it to go to the restroom) but we had a great time.

Neither is what I'd call a great restaurant. They're both noisy. Ohana caters to families, so expect children to be encouraged to run around and play games during dinner. Ohana is also an "unlimited food for a fixed price" restaurant, so don't expect anything over-the-top in the quality or preparation department. It's just basic food, delivered to your table in quantity.

Kona is a more traditional, menu-based restaurant, but again, it's nothing fancy. It's noisy because it's open to the lobby and lounge areas of the Poly. As with most disney TS restaurants, the food is good, but nothing truly special.

So, if you don't mind the children's activities, and you want bulk loading, go for Ohana.

If you want to order from a menu, go for Kona.

If you want a nice meal....go over to one of the places at the Grand Floridian. ;)

Ohana is family style and as a previous poster said it has A LOT of meat.. I'd choose Kona, its quieter and the food is better.

We been to both for dinner and have enjoyed both. However, if we had to pick...it would be Ohanas for us. We have taken my girl scout troop there (ages 14-15) picky eaters and there was something for every one. Even went there when it was just 4 adults and we stilled enjoyed ourselves.

Yes...games going on...but the entertainers can tell if you want to play or not. All the side dishes that came with the meal...was very tasty. Then came the endless grilled meats and the dessert was just to die for.

I don't think you could go wrong with either. Just look at their menu and what appeals to you most...pick that one. We like the family platter style at Ohanas and what a view of the castle you get especially if you are dining around the time that Wishes is going on.

Heck...pick one, one night and the other on another night. Get the best of both!!!:thumbsup2

I would choose Kona Cafe. We always enjoy our meals here and they have some great prime rib and terryaki steak. I know I'm in the minority but I love the atmosphere of having all the tropical foliage right outside.

While I used to really love Ohana, since they removed the rice and pineapple, it just hasn't been the same. :(

DH and I both loved Ohana, it was just incredible...the only thing at Kona that wowed us was the bread and butter and the wings

I definitely prefer Kona over Ohana's - I think both the food and atmosphere is better. However, Ohana does have a lot of meat and is probably better for a big meat eater. I enjoy the "starters" and sides at Ohana much more than the meat - I don't think it's anything special.

Tough one. I LOVE Kona Cafe. But we ate dinner at Ohana the last trip and I loved it there too. Almost makes me want to stay at the Poly so I can eat at both places often. :)

I liked the sides very much at Ohana, so if you're not that much into meat, you can have them. The meat was really good.

I'm not much help. I'd do both.

I haven't tried 'Ohana. This is mainly because my impression is that families sit together and they bring you skewers. This could be entirely wrong, but it's put us off!

Kona, on the other hand, is definitely one of our favourite restaurants. I love the coconut chicken with the almonds etc, and also the terriyaki strip steak. I prefer when they had the banana-caramel creme brulee, but the chocolate-banana one is fine too. They also have very good service, usually quick and polite. It can get chilly though so take a sweater.

you sit down as a family - but you don't sit with other families at the same table (unless it's changed) so you only have to share the skewers with your own family

Kona gets my vote between the two. No contest for us.

Agree you sit with only your family....Plus...you are not actually sharing the skewers...the server brings skewers of different grilled meat/shrimp to your table and you have the choice if wanting any of the meat/shrimp or not...if yes...then he/she asks how many pieces...and he/she slides the meat from the skewer onto your plate.

If you have eaten at a Brazilian steak house...this is also how they do it at Ohanas.

We like both. My DH who also loves meat will every once in awhile say he needs a "Ohana's fix". We have eaten at both multiple times and have had good service, good food and fun. Ohana's you can watch the fireworks from if you want. I had the Mahi Mahi at Kona and love it. My DH usually gets some form of meat there and loves it - look at the menus that may help.

I like Kona better quality wise. Ohana is fun, but since you're two adults, I'd pick Kona for that reason too since Ohana can be quite noisy with all the little kiddos running around.
