My family loved our dinner at Ohana's in Sept. 04, but now I am reading mixed reviews since the menu change. The Kona menu looks great. Which do you think is better?

I voted for the Kona Cafe because, as far as food goes, it is WONDERFUL! The food is excellent.

Now, at 'Ohana, the food is just so-so, but the atmosphere is definitely more fun.

So, I guess it just depends on your priorities (do you want food or entertainment). I'm a bit of a food snob so I would always go for Kona.

My family has eaten at both, and both are great, but we very much prefer Kona. The variety of food suits our family and the atmosphere was lovely. Brighter, less "Poly" (in my own opinion) than O'Hana's. We ate there on the very last night of our 2002 trip, and I still remember how wonderful it was. Can't wait to go back. Not only was the food terrific, the service was great, drinks were excellent, and the atmosphere was comfortable.

Either way, you can't go wrong.

Enjoy!

If you really enjoyed 'Ohana on your last trip, don't let the change in menu keep you away. We've dined there many times, before AND after the changes, and we still enjoy it very much.

Kona Cafe is an all-time favorite Disney restaurant of mine, so I highly recommend there, as well.

Here's the section of my web site that contains pictures of the resorts and restaurants we've been to, including a ton of pictures of the food. Enjoy!

I didn't vote on the poll because I've only eaten at O'hana. We love O'hana and have ADRs for there and Kona. I can't wait to try Kona out.

Seaspray, I love your Polynesian pictures! We'll be staying for the first time this September so I'm becoming a regular visitor of your website. Thanks for all of those wonderful pics.

Me too, I'll be trying Kona on May 11th.

My answer is not going to help you in the least.
The food at Kona is great. The service is very good but the atmosphere is lacking. Think Denny's in a hotel lobby. Don't get me wrong, I love this place and we try to eat here on every trip. As a matter of fact we are going to be in Orlando for 3 days in May and this is the only ADR we have scheduled.
As far as 'Ohana we feel that the menu change has not affected the experience in the least. Some of the new items are better than the old, like the potatoes and the desert and some of the new changes should have been left as they were, like the shrimp and the wontons.

Which is better......:confused3

I think we are going to change our dinner ADR from Ohana to Kona. We'll be doing the Ohana breakfast - my kids' favorite - so they will still get some of the atmosphere. Unfortunately, when I was looking at the new Ohana menu there were several items I wouldn't eat. I can't eat any seafood, and I won't touch a chicken wing or bread pudding. I loved the old dessert! The Kona menu looks fantastic! So much so that I think I'll have trouble deciding...

We are huge fans of Ohana, we eat there every trip and really enjoy it. It is actually the first place our kids ask to eat at as soon as we arrive in Disney!

Both are excellent and it really depends on what the members of your family like. There is a bit more of a variety of food at Kona, but if you like what is served at Ohana's (which we do) go for it. Ohana's is more of an event style restaurant with entertainment for the kids. Kona's is really just a restaurant. Though the food is good, the atmosphere is a bit boring to me. Jay

ktink: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy my web site. :wave2: :surfweb:

NC State: I'll be at the Kona Cafe on May 11th, for breakfast. Can't wait to have the pineapple macadamia butter pancakes again :cloud9:

I love all 3 meals at the Kona Cafe... :coffee:
