Ohana's or Kona for our Forever Family Day?

We are having trouble getting an earlier seating for Ohana's for dinner on June 16th for our Forever Family Day. This is a special celebration for our family as it is the anniversary of when our daughters became sisters through adoption. Right now we have a 9:30 ADR which is too late.

We really want to see the fireworks from the Poly beach. We do have an Ohana's breakfast scheduled for our departure day, so the kids will be able to participate in the games at breakfast.

I am wondering if maybe we should go to Kona for dinner instead of Ohanas? What do you think? Is Kona as nice as Ohana's? How does the food compare? What would be an ideal time to eat dinner in order to see the fireworks (10:00) from the beach?

Thank you so much for your help!

Congrats on your beautiful family.

The breakfast at Ohana is character. I don't think there are any games.

We watched the fireworks from the beach last year and it was great.. but if you get into Ohana, the fireworks can also be seen from inside the restaurant, if you are in the right place (you can request to be seated by the window and just wait a bit longer). Eating at Ohana took a while, as the kids were participating in all the activities and eating in between.. I would say at least 1.5 to 2 hours to eat.

We won't be eating at Kona until September, but I have heard great things about it.

We ate at both on our last trip. Ohana's was fun, but I thought the food at Kona's was better. My kids enjoyed the food better at Kona's also. My (then) 8 yr. old daughter did not enjoy the food at Ohana's at all. We eventually had them bring her chicken fingers, but she still complains about the food at Ohana's. Kona's doesn't have any "entertainment", but we really enjoyed our meal.

Congratulations on your forever family day. For that special occasion, I would vote for an earlier dinner at Kona. The service is more personalized and there is an asian flavor to the entrees. They have great desserts there as well!

I'd suggest viewing the fireworks from the beach at the Poly. Let the girls play by on the beach while the adults sit back and enjoy refreshments from the pool bar. (They also make great smoothies that the kids will enjoy). Around the pool bar, the music was piped in for the fireworks show when we were there last summer.

If you are there around 9, you can also catch the Electric Water Pageant as it goes by the Poly.

That sounds like an awesome plan. I only have had lunch at Kona and breakfast and dinner at ohana and overall i think Kona is the better place. I am a picky eater and Kona really worked well for me. And i do believe that Ohana does have activities for breakfast too. Much better character interaction at breakfast too! have a MAGICAL time!!!
