Our first and only trip to 'ohana's was the LAST night before the menu change.

Has anyone been there recently that can tell me what the difference is between the old menu and the new one? Any change in the way they serve?

FWIW - contrary to some of the comments I've read, our visit was awesome! Granted, the crowds at the parks were practically non-existent, so we got a lot of extra attention from our waiter, but the food and the service was great.

We have ADR's for our next trip (early November), and I was wondering what's different now compared to the "old" menu.

We ate there last week. i'm not sure what was on the old menu, but we did have the new menu. for appys we had sweet n' sour shrimp, chicken wings, salad in lime vinagrette dressing and shrimp wontons. then skewers of sausage, turkey, steak and pork. then the vanilla ice cream with bread pudding with some type of banana sauce, very good.

P.S. forgot, we also had stir fry veggies, very good, and scalloped potatos, which were pretty good.

If I remember correctly, this sounds very much like what we had. Unless I'm misremembering.

Hopefully this bump will spark some new comments.

From what I understand the "old" menu had rice that was replaced by scalloped potatos and green beens that were replaced by stir fry vegetables and also the shrimps were grilled on skewers before, now they are sauteed, also they add sausage to the skewers. The potatos were my favorite part! We went a few nights ago and we kept asking for more of them!

That's not too bad! I was expecting MAJOR changes! I knew about the shrimp (our waiter told us that), but he mentioned something about a change in service. I was worried it would stop being "all you can eat" and turn into "menu" service.

I'm glad they replaced the rice (I hate rice), but my DF will be VERY disappointed. I'd much rather have the potatoes.

I can't wait!!!

I'm guessing from what has been written so far that the lunch/dinner at O'Hanna's is served family style? Is that right? Is lunch the same menu as dinner? :flower:
We've only been there for the character breakfast... which we love. Have they changed that menu too?

Having never been, we can't wait until our first time in Dec. The changes sound good and from what others have written they are being very well received.

I LOVE the change and so does DH. We didn't care a whole lot for the veggie selection, and this is a great improvment. I'm changing one of my ressies to O'hana's for November, now I just hope I can get one!!! Thanks for sharing this info.

I don't think 'Ohana's is open for lunch. From what i remember i think it is only open for breakfast and dinner.

We ate at Ohana last week. In addition to the changes mentioned above, the dessert also has changed from pineapple with caramel sauce to bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and bananas foster sauce. The service has changed somewhat also. No more lazy susans. Now the appetizers are served in dishes in three waves. Even with the changes, we enjoyed our meal as much as ever and will continue returning on every trip to WDW.

Glad for the info.I have never eaten at 'Ohana's, but after reading all this, I might be changing a reserv. I have ADR for Tony's the night of MVMCP. This also happens to be my DH's 40th birthday. I only got Tony's because CPand LTT were booked. Now, I'm thinking about changing Tony's to 'Ohana's for an early dinner before MVMCP and to celebrate the birthday. What does anyone think? :confused3

Ohana is my favorite on site restaurant and I am still in mourning over the loss of the shrimp wontons. :guilty: I could have just eaten a big pile of those and been happy. :teeth:

I loved the pineapple and caramel and would be upset about that changing except that bread pudding is my absolute favorite desert so I am sure I won't be complaining about that change!

Ohana opens way before that...I had a 5:10 ADR last week, he probably meant he didnt have any ADR's open until 6pm...try calling back again.....you may be able to get something earlier if it opens up

Grammy
- When I was there last week they still had the shrimp wontons and I had a ton of them!

i had the wontons last week as well, they were very yummy as were the potatoes. i didn't care for the sausage much tho :guilty:

We just ate at Ohana's on 9/29 and the food was great! They had the shrimp wontons AND the wonton chips, the three dipping sauces, the salad, the shrimp, the AWESOME potatoes, the stir fried veggies (lots of snap peas...I love those!), steak, turkey, pork and sausage, and the most incredible pineapple bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and bananas foster sauce.

I'd never eaten there before, but I thought this meal was fabulous! It was my DH's favorite meal of the trip!

Grammy, IT IS SOOOOO good!!! Amazing with banana fosters sauce!! Best part of the meal, even my kids loved it!! We fought over it!! :rotfl:

I'm new to these boards, so hopefully I won't be banned after these comments....but in all honesty, the anticipation of O'hana's was far better than the actual experience. The food was just O.K., not the fantastic, melt-in-your-mouth, best thing since sliced bread meal I was expecting based on all of the reviews I have read.

The wontons were the best part of the meal, although we all (6 of us) thought the sauces were kind of bland. My sister and I both liked the salad, although no one else at the table cared for it. The potatoes are just your average potatoes au gratin that I've made a 100 times at home, nothing special. The veggies were overcooked and tasted frozen, not fresh as I thought they'd be. The meats were dry and did not have the fantastic flavor as I'd been hoping for. The shrimp were just your basic sauteed shrimp. The bread pudding dessert was good, but again, not outstanding.

All in all, I think I set myself up for this disappointment! :guilty: My sister and I had been combing these boards for months before this vacation and were extremely excited about O'hana, but it just didn't live up to the expectation. I wouldn't say it was bad, but I also wouldn't say it was one of the better dining experiences I've ever had (and I'm definitely not a high-end diner.) Oh well, now we know, just glad we had free dining and didn't pay for it!

Hey, We ate at O'hana's on 9-27 and I didn't get any wontons!! Oh well, everything else was wonderful. We were seated by the window and while the appetizers were being served, Wishes started. Then, when we were eating our delicious dessert(I had extra 'cause my son was half asleep), we saw the water parade! I was a great night for me, all that planning worked out perfectly!
