While dining at Ohana's on Saturday, we saw that they changed the menus a little. They are introducing a new dish they call Ohana potatoes. They are scalloped potatoes with cheese and cooked onions. They said they are testing them right now but the menu's have them listed. They took the rice off the menu's as well but they were still serving it.

I am not sure if the change is permanent but from what we could tell it was.

In addition, they have changed the menu to mixed vegetables instead of green beans.

Thanks for the heads up wfloyd!! Ohana's is one of my favs, and I am taking my family there in January!! Hopefully others will have more info by then!

They're fiddling with perfection - and I'm not happy! I love the green beans even more than the other food, and I'm sad that they're letting the green beans go. Then to take away the rice and sub it with potatoes! That's sacrilege! The whole point of 'Ohana was supposed to be asian dining, and no self respecting asian food has potatoes with cheese!!!!

Aargh!

Thanks for the notice though. I'll definitely let them know how I feel when we go there in Sept.

Messing with something that isn'tbroken--hope it doesn't turn out like GG!

Scalloped potatoes instead of the rice just doesn't fit with the rest of the menu :(

I love the rice and the green beans, and can deal with the mixed veggies and potatoes. If they TOUCH the wontons, I am gone!!!

I don't like the idea of the potatoes! I love the green beans and rice. If they take the wontons then there is war!!

do they still serve the pineapple and carmel? I didn't see it listed on the menu.

Pineapple and carmel are still served at the end.

I will say that DW and I along with MIL and FIL all thought the potatoes were excellent. Our table went through 4-5 bowls full of them along with everything else. The reactions from the other tables seemed the same from what we could tell as well.

We did like the green beans better but we have seen the vegetables change several times over the years.

Potatoes sound great! I never cared for the rice. I loved the green beans but look forward to trying the veggies. They better leave the wings and wontons alone though!

:rotfl2: My first thought is rice goes with the speared meat! Not potatoes, and how do they keep the potatoes warm - then I thought *duh, potatoes are much more filling so you eat the wonderful goey cheesey potatoes, and eat less meat!! :rotfl: Same with the green beans, I'm sure its cheaper to buy a bag of mixed veggies!!

That's What I thought too but the potatoes were not that filling and we still killed the same number of cows, turkeys, pigs and shrimp. We probably just over indulged a little more...

This dish is very popular at Disneyland Resort Paris - every restaurant serves it (and between you and me, was often the only edible item on offer :) ). Maybe they want to infiltrate it into Walt Disney World and this is the start...mark my words, it will be everywhere within the year! They arent "Ohana Potatoes" they are "Disneyland Paris Potatoes"!!!

DH will be gutted, he loves the rice. Not sad to see the demise of the green beans though. As has been said, if they touch the wontons, they will be seriously unpopular!

I have to admit,I m not a bean person, so the mixed veggies are appealing to me, but NO RICE???!!!! That is my favorite part of the meal. Even DS who wont eat any of the food at Ohana, eats the rice. They CANT get rid of that!!!! I do like cheesey potatoes and Im sure they are good, but they definitely dont go with this meal...rice does!

Oh they'd better not get rid of the rice. DS and I love that rice!

Ok, Ohana's is supposed to be a Polynesian restaurant right? Who has ever had cheesy potatos served to them in Hawaii?? :crazy2: Who ever was in charge of changing the menu definatly needs to do more research!

Would they still allow you to order the rice or even beans, even though they aren't on the menu? It seems to me, that at least if you give enough time for a request, most time the Disney restaurants will come though.

You know... I'm really getting tired of cheese invading every type of meal. I'm not a big cheese eater, DH isn't either - I'll eat it, but I don't want it on everything. And yet, they stick it in every kind of salad imaginable, every potato dish has to have cheese in it... it's just getting a little annoying.

Everywhere I eat, I have to make sure they don't put cheese on my salad, that they leave the cheese off my sandwich, etc etc. Now they're putting cheesy potatoes on a Polynesian dinner???? Gimme a break!

I doubt they will make you a personalized all you can eat meal. I can see if you have special dietary needs but I don't think they would do that!

Ahhh yuk, I hate cheese and the smell of melted cheese! Every restaurant seems to want to put it on their food andnnot one of the few places that I thought would be OK is not. It's not as if it were even polynesian.
