ohana's at poly

I just got PS for ohanas at the poly resort....I would like to know if it is fun and what it's all about....also...the child's menu????

They have a great menu which is served all you can eat family style. They will bring your kids chicken tenders and french fries if they won't eat the stuff that is regularly served. The entertainment is provided by your children. They have coconut races where the kids push a coconut with a broom around the restaurant and they have hula hoop dancing while a big Hawaiian
guy sings and plays the ukelele. All the kids "win" a handful of candy at the end of the race. It's alot of fun.

great I was really worried about what my 8yo would eat. He's really picky. He is also really competitive- he'll love the games!!!

It's been about 16 years since we've been to Ohana's - did the character breakfast - loved it then - next trip we're going to try the dinner, too, and time it to watch the fireworks afterwards.

I hadn't made a PS, since I know my fussy toddler wouldn't eat anything on the menu. Is this definite, about chicken fingers and fries for kids? The menu on wdwig.com and elsewhere says the kids menu is the same as for adults. Do you think my two toddlers would enjoy OHana?

Last summer we ordered a burger and fries for a fussy teen in our group. They're very good about that...and they charged us the burger price not the buffet price.

We also have a very picky eater (now 9).....we've been trying to change that by not facilitating his pickiness (e.g. having him choose from eating what's available or not eating.) When we were at Ohana's, the CM noticed that he was just pushing his food around and not eating anything, so she rattled off at least 5-6 choices and asked if he'd like one of them. (I've read on these boards that they are the kids meal choices from the other restaurant.) He had pizza. The CM was paying very careful attention to see if the kids were going to eat or not....fortunately, my other two kids did eat the traditional fare. From then on, he decided he absolutely loves WDW restaurants! (As picky as he is, it's a big deal for him to love any restaurant!)

We ate at Ohana on my BDay last year and I loved it. The kids were 10, 7 and 4 and the older two ate well, while Mr. Picky (my 4 year old DS) didn't--although he grew very partial to the rice on the appetizer tray, esp. after we told him it was Buzz Lightyear's favorite energy food!
The drinks are good too--and even though it was extra, I had to try a "coconut snowball" dessert and it was to die for!

We ate at O'hana's in December and I loved it! I thought this was even better than Boma's (did I just say that???)

We ate dinner at 'Ohana's last October, and it was delicious! My 4-year-old ate a little of the turkey, but we asked for a hot dog and fries, and she enjoyed that a lot more. At first, she was too shy to do the coconut races and hoola hoop contest, but when they did it the second time, she finally participated and enjoyed it.

Try to schedule your dinner for about 1 and 1/2 hours before MK fireworks, because you can see them from 'Ohana's if you're anywhere near a window (and the music is piped into the restaurant). If you're nowhere near a window, and you're through with dinner, you can just go down to the Poly beach to see them. Enjoy!
