Ohana

We love Ohana and eat there at least once each trip. My now 6 y/o DD is also picky. She eats maybe 5 thing in the whole world and none are at Ohana. We get her something off the child's menu and are charged the menu price from Kona's which I believe is like $5.99 for the hotdog meal. She loves the coconut races there. We have been to Ohana many times and have only been disapointed once. That was last year when the grill was being worked on and the meats were cooked in Kona's. The meats were dry and tasteless. The other meals with the grill were wonderful! We will definitely be going back to it again in October and December this year!

We went there two weeks ago because of recommendations from this board. My DH and I absolutely loved it. It is now my favorite restaurant at WDW. I wanted to try it without the kids to see if I thought they would like it on our next trip. I think there was plenty offered that even my pickiest will not complain. Great service too.

Does the meal start at a certain time like Hoop De Doo? Has anyone ever been able to get in at the last minute with no PS?

No, it is a regular restaurant, without a show. They take PS's, beginning at 90 days out, for all times throughout the night. They open for dinner at 5:00pm, but Im not sure how late the continue serving.
The coconut races and hula hoop contests seem to be done at random, however we have eaten there twice with 5:00pm PSs(getting seated about 5:15) and both times we have seen 2 or 3 coconut races, but no hula hoop contests.
Im sure people have had luck getting in at the last minute without a PS, however if you really want to eat here I would definitely suggest booking a PS. It is a very popular restaurant that does seem to fill up.

There are also kid meals available. My son got chicken fingers and my dd got the best mac n cheese. The waitress told us that she didn't care who ate what as long as we all left with full bellies.

Subbing for future reference - O'hana's is definitely on our list of MUST EAT AT establishments :) I showed DH the menu last night and he wasn't excited - he only likes fried foods and the like *sigh* but I don't care LOL I just have to try it once!

We were there in 01 I cant rember what my picky kid ate. I had no idea that they would get chicken fingers from Kona cafe. This can now be added to the list I am intrested in for our trip in April. He is more picky that he was 4 years ago.I still can't belive it.
