Please help......never been here before but I keep hearing it is good. Please share you experiences with me, how is the food, how is the atmosphere?:surfweb:

I loved the salad, the potstickers, and the shrimp especially. And of course the dessert. It is one of my favorite restaurants.
We were there around 8/8:30 during Wishes and the Water parade, which was pretty cool. They also had some singing/ukelele playing and a coconut race for the kids. Service was so-so. Not too bad for disney. (I don't know but we don't usually get that great of service at disney restaurants)

We went for Breakfast for the Lilo and Stitch thing. I thought it was more reasonbly priced compared to the others and Mickey was there as well. We thought the characters weren't in such a hurry like other places we went and that's the main reason we went so we left happy. We thought the food was good but as always, the service left alot to be desired! Just make sure if you even THINK you might want something to ask the server before they leave as they may leave and not come back too quick! Other than that, we had a good time and the kids got to walk around shaking their rattle thingys (for the life of me I can't recall what they are called) but they had a ball. (that is, if you wanted an opinion on the breakfast!) :)

This is my favorite dinner at WDW. I have been 10 times and loved it through all the changes. There have been a couple items over the years that I didn't care for but things change occsionally and those items are gone now.
There have been a couple times when one of the meats has been dry but there is enough other things to pick from if one item is off. The atmosphere is not quiet and intimate but a bit boisterous and fun.

We went on the 17th of July. It was by far the best dinner of the whole trip. We had an early dinner at 5:15 so we were in the first seating group. The food was actually very good. The service for us was exceptional. We had two servers dedicated to our area and they both came by quite regularly. May have been because we ate early. The kids had a great time learning the hula, coconut races, limbo. The entertainment came out three times while we were there. I am still craving more bread pudding. That was very good. Make sure you save enough room. Great food and lots of fun.

Great review. Can't wait to go next month :banana:

We have ressies here for the 1st time in Oct. with 2 kids ages 13 and 9. Are the activities just for the little kids? My youngest will most likely want to participate but will she feel out of place?

Thanks, Danette

We went in June & it is awesome! It was our favorite dinner of the week. We are going back in Oct on QSDP but paying OOP for Ohana for son (will be 9) bday, he loved it! He really enjoyed all the activities and he is the same age as your youngest. HTH

I'm happy to hear what a great experience you had eating early. We chose a 5 pm ADR for our upcoming trip to work best with nap break and avoid a wait, and I am glad to hear that you had such a good experience. This is the place I am most excited about eating at. My boys are only 5 and 2, can a parent help them with some of the activities? My older son would probably be nervous going on his own, and the younger one will want to do whatever big brother does.

Went for dinner in 2006. I had heard mixed reviews but I know everyone has different tastes so I decided to try it. It wasn't my favorite place although it wasn't horrible either. I liked the salad, potstickers and shrimp and loved the chicken. The vegetables were so so and I didn't like any of the meats. They were all extremely dry and greasy the night we ate there. There were also 2 of us and I found it to be way too much food. It's a cute restaurant but it was very loud and the coconut races meant there were always alot of children running between tables. Our waiter wasn't good on this night but I know that's luck of the draw wherever you eat. I would say if the menu looks appealing to you, try it. It's worth trying you might have a different experience.

This place is a must do for my DH. He balked when he heard I was thinking of skipping it this time.

I think the kids will have fun. Might be a little much for the 2 year old. You can get up with them. In fact the lady encourages everyone to participate. They never ran between the tables when we were there. They just stayed on the main aisle. The kids aren't away from the table for too long. The activities are in small segments, about ten minutes. Enjoy.

Ohana is no longer on our list but I would suggest the following:
1) dine early;
2) wait for a table in main area as in our opinion seating next to the lounge lessens the experience;
3) expect sporadic service - a common situation these days at Disney TS restaurants;
4) do not admit to your server that you have dined at Ohana before if you want to get the full experience;
5) hope the grill attendant is grilling properly and keeping up with the demand (another reason to dine early).

My husband talks and talks and talks about this restaurant after we went last year for the first time. our kids (5 and 4) loved it too. I'm not a huge meat eater so I wasn't excited about the big skewers of meat but my husband was in heaven. The dumplings are delicious and as others said before, the bread pudding is AMAZING! I plan on saving room for it this time. I was so stuffed by the end of the meal last time, I couldn't enjoy the bread pudding as much so save room!! We are going back in Sept and it was the one and only restaurant my husband said we HAD to go to.:)

Can you see Wishes and the Water Parade from in the resturant or do you have to go outside??

We were there too early to see wishes but from our seat we had a perfect view of the castle. I have read that you can watch from the restaurant and they pipe the music in. The entire wall is made of windows so I am sure you will be able to see. Some table would be much better than others though. I don't know about the parade. Have fun.

Are there tables for two? My husband and I are going soon and I was just wondering if we would have to sit with other people.

Yes. Of the 10 times I have been eight times were for two people only and we always had a table to ourselves. The other two times were with 4 people and again we were seated alone.

Great Atmosphere, Great food, Great Drinks, Great View of Magic Kingdom and fireworks.....what else could you want in a restaurant.
Ohana's is the tic, tic, tic, tic, tic, tic , tic...........BOOM (The Bomb). You should definitely check it out. :love:

This is one of our favorites. There are table's for two, I've done this with DS9 and I alone and it works out great.

We love all of the food here, the shrimp is my personal favorite but it's all good. Come hungry because there is a ton of it coming your way.

Quick tip on the dessert, I have them leave the sauce off. If you do nothing the CM will pour the banana's foster sauce onto the dessert, in my opinion the sauce is WAY too sweet. It's perfect with out the sauce or just a little. That's just me though.

Enjoy...you'll love it!
