:sad2: Just back from our end of school year trip to Disney. We had a fantastic time with the exception of our dinner at O'hana's. We were there last year before the menu had changed and absolultely loved it! Our whole family was so disappointed, that we will not be returning to o'hana's. What a bummer, this used to be our favorite restaurant. :sad2:

Thanks for the info, we were really thinking about eating there but between what you and others have said I think we are going to steer clear. Thanks

What exactly was so disappointing about it? We're going for the first time on our upcoming July trip, and I'm curious about how it's so terrible.

I wonder why they changed the menu? :furious: 'Ohana's has always been my favorite restaurant on the planet earth! I have heard they no longer offer their yummy bread and that they discontinued the pineapple dessert. WHY!! :sad2: I will try out the new menu to see for myself, but it sounds like it has gone downhill.

We have never been to Ohanas prior to the change of menu, so can't judge the difference, however, we had a great time and really enjoyed the food.

We too were slightly disappointed in the changes. I was told they no longer offer the BIG SHRIMP because they were cooked with the other meats, and because of some people having allergies to shrimp/shellfish, they had to stop the shrimp. The smaller dish of sweet/sour shrimp just wasn't the same.

Please go and decide for yourself. For every 10 bad reviews you read, you will find 10 good ones.

Amen.

We have been to 'Ohana many times before and once after the menu change. We had a group of seven last October and everyone said it was their favorite meal overall: great food, great variety, wonderful service, fun atmosphere and awesome drinks.

One thing you can always count on is change at WDW. I miss the shrimp wontons, but everything else was wonderful. We all adored the bread pudding, and the former dessert (pineapple with caramel dip) is something we make at home all the time.

I hope you enjoy.

Same here....we were there for the first time in September 05 and thought the food was great! The dessert was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! We'll be back...hopefully in May of 07!

We have been to Ohana's twice since the menu change, once in December and again this May. We enjoyed the meal completely although the sausages were better the second time. We love the salad there and the peanut dip really grows on you. We did not think that any of us liked at at first but all of a sudden it was great. We love the shrimp but we never had the other menu so it is hard to compare. :confused3

I'm glad that people have some good things to say about the new menu, we have an ADR booked for August and my DH is really looking forward to it.

To: AllyCatTapia - Make sure you go for breakfast - Dinner at Ohana is NOT a character meal!!!!

My two cents: I went there for my birthday dinner this year. While I was nervous after reading so many reviews eviscerating the place, I'm thrilled that we went!!! The dessert is to die for, the potatoes are sinfully good and the rest of the food is awesome! One of the best "bangs-for-your-buck" at WDW, IMHO!!

My sentiments exactly. We went there years ago and liked it. We loved it this time -- especially the salad, potatoes, and the dessert -- and I dont even like bread pudding (until I tried the one at Ohana's)!

:thumbsup2

Totally agree with you :D Not too fussed on the meats but I'm not a big meat eater (my fiance loved the meats though!) - loved the chicken and shrimp though

We love 'Ohana even with their new menu. We have been through several menu changes and while we miss some of the older items, the new ones are just as good in our opinion. The bread pudding is wonderful now and we have to try to save room so we can eat that as well. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I just recently posted a full review from our dinner on 6/9/06

No doubt, I enjoyed 'Ohana more the first 2 times I went there, before the menu change, but it's still a good, fun place to eat.

I don't recall the exact menu changes, but I do know they got rid of the banana bread, which makes NO sense to me. I was watching a Disney Wedding special this weekend from about 2 years ago. They had a chef from 'Ohana boasting how the bread had been served there for over 30 years. It was delicious. Very disappointing.

If they ever get rod of either the turkey, beef or pork - THEN, I'll be done with it. I don't like shrimp, so that was no big loss for me.

I forget - Did they get rid of the pu pu platter?

I did not book "Ohana because I had read some negative reviews, and decided not to take a chance. Once we arrived my DDIL asked if we could have dinner there. We were able to get a last minute ressie, and my family loved it! It was not my favorite restaurant but everyone has different tastes, so I would say that if the menu looks good to you, try it. Dessert was amazing!

I havent been since the menu change but am looking forward to trying it out. WE loved it before and I am pretty sure we will now. My DD will be dissapointed the big shrimp is gone but atleast there is still shrimp, I am dissapointed the wontons are gone but atleast there are wonton chips, which I am asuming are just like those big crunhchy noodles you put in egg drop soup at chinese places. I love the maui potatoes and am excited about trying the bread pudding and watching Wishes from the restaurant..
