Dear friends,

I noticed that at O'Hana's Polynesian Dinner they took the shrimp off the menu. I'm devastated! :sad2: We were down in August and the shrimp were still there. Anyone know when they changed and why?

There's a lot of talk on the restaurant board about them taking off better menu items because of the DDP.

This is just me talking now, but I think part of the reason is that the shrimp industry was hit really hard last year because of the bad Hurriciane season. The prices have gone up dramatically because many of the shrimp boats were damaged and could not get out to fish. This might be why they had to take them off the menu. Just my thought though.

There are still shrimp at 'Ohana. When they took away the skewered shrimp they added sweet and sour shrimp to the appetizers and they are wonderful! I was a little leary of the menu changes at 'Ohana, but this is my DBF's absolute favorite restaurant at WDW, so we tried out the new menu and were not disappointed.

We were there in January, and there was still shrimp on the menu. Actually, for once I liked the changes they made. Usually when they change stuff at WDW, it's not always for the better, but in the case of Ohana's, I think it was a change for the better.

I was also hesitant of the changes they made before our Sept. trip. But the new additions were great. I was surprised how much shrimp they brought to our tabel, there was no way we could finish it. I felt bad waisting so much shrimp. Also the dessert was excellent. This is still our favorite restaurant.

Hi!
I hope there is shrimp still on the menu. We were there last October and there was still shrimp, in a bowl, not on skewers. I don't eat any meat, and look forward to the shrimp. We have an ADR in August and am counting on the shrimp being there. Anyone else eaten here recently and know of the shrimp not being on the menu?? Thanks!

We also loved the new menu. The shrimp is fabulous, and what can I say about the dessert? Loved the pineapple and caramel but he bread pudding is outta this world.

It was and still is my favorite restaurant in DW.

The Shrimp was still there in October but it was not grilled.

We hated the changes and it s now off our list...and we have gone on all our trips but Potatos are NOT polynesian food...Irish, sure but they don't belong at the Poly...

We did like the bread pudding but the food has lost it's way and the service we got was horrible.

We are going to try other restaurants to find a NEW favorite.

We don't eat shrimp (allergy) but the rest of the menu was fabulous and I don't care if they replaced rice with potatoes. The potatoes were excellent as was everything else on the menu. We told them not to bring us shrimp and they didn't. If the rice is anything like what they serve at the luau, they can keep it, it doesn't taste like any fried rice I have ever had. We had more than enough to eat and restaurants change their menus all the time.

We were there in Sept. just as the new menu became available. We just loved everything. I'm the only shrimp eater, but we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Me too.

'Ohana has been our favorite restaurant for a while and still is even with the changes. They have had several changes over the years and after the initial shock, we have always enjoyed their food.

They still have the shrimp but the are a little smaller and seem to be easier to peel for us. We also enjoy the bread pudding more than the pineapple because the pineapple didn't seem to be ripe most of the time.

I was there in January. I hate bread pudding and asked about the pineapple, the waiter went into the back, brought me a giant bowl of yummy ripe pineapple and a side of FOSTER (like banana foster) sauce...it was to die for!

I was OK with the rest of the menu. I love it there.

I have eaten here twice since the menu changed and I have been pleased each time. The shrimp appetizers were there a little over a week ago.
I love the potatoes and the desert is great.
We were celebrated as the 50th family seated that night. I nice little surprise. We were sung to and given leis. Fun for the kids.
Enjoy
