Hi all!

DH and I are going to Disney late August. We are going to be eating pretty cheaply, and mostly CS. However, I want to surprise him with something...is Ohana worth it OOP? Is the allears price correct - 32.99?

I think he would really like the food and idea of it, but I just want to see if people think its worth it. Also - is everything still good/fresh later at night? The only reservation I could find was at 9:20 on a Saturday night.

Would we have to wait a long time with such a late reservation?

Thanks!!

I just went to Ohana last month for the first time ever, and my whole family loved it! We also had a 9:20 reservation which turned out to be amazing because when wishes come on at 10 P.M. they pipe the music into the restaurant and you can see the fireworks from many of the tables by the windows (which we were lucky enough to be at). The food was awesome, I especially loved the honey coriander wings; they were some of the best wings I have ever had. The food was all fresh - they grilled the skewers and our waiter went right over to get them for us. There were even little shows and celebrations going on throughout the restaurant. Overall great experience, the atmosphere and food makes it well worth it IMO.

Edit: we did not have to wait at all. We were seated right when we walked up to the counter.

My family and I LOVED it. My dad and my older brother (25) ate themselves silly with all the meat (and sides). I think it is the perfect place for men. I loved all the sides and the dessert and the shrimp! If it's the only sit down restaurant you are going to, you may would also enjoy a nicer, more romantic steak restaurant?

We ate at "Spirit of Aloha" the last time we were there & loved the food, but parts of the show were a bit cheesy.

This next time we are planning on eating at Ohanas b/c several of the food items are the same (as I mentioned...very good). I think this will be a good choice.

We ate at 'Ohana the first week of June and loved it! It was probably the best meal of our trip. I had read some negative reviews but it was amazing the night we ate there. Our reservations were for 9pm and we were seated by 9:15pm so we didn't have to wait too long. We were seated at the big corner table right in front of the castle view and had a wonderful view of Wishes.
The food was hot and fresh and there was plenty of it, the chicken and steak were awesome. We did not feel rushed at all and lef the restaurant stuffed and happy about 10:45pm.

We ate at Ohana for the first time during our trip in May and loved it! I can't answer your question regarding how fresh the food is later in the evening since we had a very early ADR (5:15pm) but I can tell you that we were seated within 5 minutes of the scheduled time. I highly recommend it.

We always make it a point to eat dinner at Ohana! Great food, great service, it's just awesome! If you are there for Wishes!, make sure to request a table by the windows to watch, totally worth waiting a few extra minutes!

My Opinion, no. Service was terrible. Tried to alert the manager of the the waiter we had that was wiping his snot with his hands and then serving people, but he didn't seem to care.

Personally I think 'Ohana is fantastic, some of the best meals we have at WDW are at 'Ohana.

Look at it this way, there is a reason an 'Ohana ADR is one of the most challenging ADRs to secure. They must be doing something right!

That being said, with great popularity comes great expectations. Don't go with the mindset that 'Ohana will represent the greatest meal you have ever had in your life...it will never live up to that. Go in with an open mind, and just experience it for yourself.

Ohana is awesome!!!! The Views are spectacular and the entertainment is fun! I have eaten here twice and will be going back this Fall with my husband so he can enjoy it for the first time! I say do it!! No regrets!

Ohana is a must do every trip for us, its normally our dinner for our first night in WDW. There is such a variety of food served family style to your table! Grilled veggies, dumplings, salad, noodles, wings, grilled steak, chicken, shrimp and then the bread pudding and ice cream.. I dont even care for bread pudding but I love this stuff!!

The tropical ambiance and the view of the beach, MK and GF are gorgeous! I say try it!

I prefer late reservations because they stop the incredibly loud children's games at 9:30. Food's pretty good. The real issue I have had at 'Ohana is lousy service, but service is a crapshoot at a lot of WDW restaurants. Have not been since September '09, maybe time to give it another shot.

Thanks for all of the responses!! I will keep the reservation! I know its not the most romantic place, but I think my DH will love it!

Stupid question - if my dinner reservation is at 9:20, and the MK closes at 10....will I still be able to get back to the MK to take the bus back to POPCentury?

'Ohana is one of our favorite restaurants for it's setting and uniqueness, and the food is yummy! If you have never seen the electrical water pageant, allow yourselves some time to arrive at the Poly a little early for this 9PM show on the 7 Seas Lagoon. You will have a perfect view from either the boat dock or the beach. It is about 7 minutes long and worth seeing once.

Yes, you should be able to catch the bus back to Pop. Buses run until the whole park is cleared at, until at least 11:30 I'd say.

Enjoy!

I know I am in the minority, but we did not care for our meal at Ohana. The service was very poor. The noise level was absolutely incredible. The chicken wings were decent - probably the most edible part of the meal. The beef was incredibly overcooked. I asked twice if I could get a piece of meat with some juice left in it with no luck. I didn't try the turkey but my daughter who is a huge turkey lover said it was very dry. The shrimp were decent though.

The noodles were edible but we never could get a refill. The dessert was good according to my daughter and husband.

It was one of the few "all you care to eat" meals I've been to that I wasn't tempted to overeat at.

'Ohana is awful IMHO - it is the most overrated place at the World. You can just about pick any other restaraunt at Disney and it will be better.

LOVE IT!!! We eat there every year. Last year we ate there twice. The steak, shrimp, noodles and dessert are amazing!! I dont think you will be disappointed.

I would think you could just walk over to the Ticket and Transportation Center (five minute walk from Ohana) and catch a bus, but someone would need to confirm that.

No, sorry, as they don't run resort buses at TTC. You'd have to go to MK to transfer. If MK has been closed too long, then DTD.

Another option would be to spend another $20.00 after dinner for a cab. DH and I did that last year after our Ohana dinner and it was the best $20.00 I spent at Disney!
