just wondering if this is worth it without kids. I can understand doing a character meal without kids and interacting with the characters but I believe the "fun stuff" that happens at Ohana is just for kids?

what do you think - fun enough for a couple of late 30's "kids"?

the food looks good so I dont think you'd go wrong, as far as the "fun" stuff Id love to know what goes on, as were going w/ 2 toddlers -yikes_!!!!!!

That alll depends on your taste. 9 mos ago my fiancee and I went there for dinner (no kids) and found the atmosphere a bit loud and annoying (they have this polynesian MC getting little kids to dance and was screaming in the microphone trying to get the kids more involved). The food was pretty good though, If you are looking for romantic, head to a different restaurant.

We went as adults and had a great time - it's not a quiet romantic restaurant but it's a lot of fun, casual, and good food. There were LOTS of adults doing the hula hoop contest, as well. It's not just for kids!

The MC was horrendous when we were there, but we had a great time laughing about her and imitated her the rest of the week ;) Didn't ruin our exp, but actually became a running joke =)

OMG!!!
Were we on the same trip?!?!?!? :rotfl:
We did the same thing... She was horrible and we couldn't pass her by without giggling... we were awful I know.

Also made a running joke of it for the rest of our trip... :p

Oh the food was good... those wontons... man... I could eat that all night.

DH and I always went to O'Hana's before we had kids and always enjoyed it. We have twin toddlers now and can't wait to take them on this trip.

:cheer2:

Dh and I went to O'hana on our anniversary trip last fall. There were plenty of adult-only parties. I do think this restaurant is more fun with a large group -- just not necessarily with kids.

My wife and I both age 49 enjoyed the meal and didn't mind what was going on around us,( coconut races) The main thing is do you like meat? If so you will love the meal. There is a lot that goes with it but meat is the center piece. IF you want more quiet just ask not to be seated in the main dining area. They have seating that is away from the action,(it only lasted about 10 minutes for us).

We ate dinner there just last weekend (2 adults).
It was very good. :)

We were tempted to ask our waiter if we could borrow a skewer to hurl at her ROFL!

My wife and I spent ten days in Disney World without children and had a wonderful dinner at Ohana. Also, we noticed that there were many other diners without children. Enjoy whichever restaurant you choose. :cool1:

I've been to 'Ohana (apostrophe first, capital O, no S on the end!) solo several times and with a group once, and I found it to be quiet, relaxed, and I would rate it very romantic.

It's all in where you are seated. If you get seated near the fire pit, you're gonna hear noise, you're gonna put up with the MC playing ukelele and you're gonna be in the middle of the action. But if you are seated in the back, near the windows, with an MK view, you get a totally different experience; back there it's quieter and more romantic, especially if you dine at night when the castle is lit up.

'Ohana is my favorite restaurant at WDW, solo or in a group.

we just ate there first time in June and loved the food. We had our children with us but did not go there for them. It is quite a romantic setting and we loved it. Keep it on the list.

We ate there once and requested one of those "back" tables. The noise is still very audible, but nothing like out front. When we were there, they had some sort of children's "parade" around the restaurant pass by.
Frankly, we probably won't go back. O'hana really isn't an "adult" restaurant in any sense.

We were seated near the window (had made a request to be able to see Wishes), and could hardly hear the "activities". The food is good - it's not an intimate dinner by any means, but good for adults.

Now how the adults acted when the fireworks started (including pushing my 15-month-old out of the way) is another story...
