What time should I make my ADRs for Ohana if we want to view the MK fireworks (scheduled at 10pm) afterward from the beach?

I'd say 8 at the LATEST, 7-7:30 might be better. You may have to wait quite a while for your table, and might have slow service (as some have reported), but you want some time to scout out a good speaker so you can hear the soundtrack, so I'd play it safe and allow 2-3 hours. Take your time dining and don't let them rush you out (save room for dessert). If you get out early, you can browse in the shops or stroll the beautiful torch-lit grounds, maybe even catch the 9:00 EWP.

I agree, try for a 7:30. Ohana is usually busy, with a decent size line just to check in at the podium. Watching the fireworks on the beach is so wonderful! We did that several times last trip!:thumbsup2

We have a 6:30 reservation at Ohana. Is that too early? Should we try to move it closer to 7:00 or 7:30?

I wouldn't move it, it's hard enough to get a reservation there anyway! If you have extra time till the fireworks, you can browse the gift shops, walk around outside the buildings or hang out on the beach. We did that alot on our last trip. My kids loved it, they spent so much time digging in the sand and making friends with the other kids. Us adults just pulled up a beach chair and relaxed. There is a bar there too that serves drinks right by the pool. :goodvibes

If I wanted to watch from the beach at 10pm I would book for 7.30pm. We always seem to have a lengthy wait to be seated at 'Ohana.

I agree with 3prettyprincesses, don't change it! In fact, if you are going on Tuesday-Saturday, arrive before 6 so you can also catch the really great (but short and sweet) torch-lighting ceremony in front of the main entrance to the TTC. After the ceremony, go upstairs to check in. You will probably have to wait a little while, so you can grab a cocktail from the Tambu Lounge, and you will almost certainly be finished with dinner in time to catch the EWP (which is wonderful to watch from the boat dock past the volcano pool).

Oh, I totally forgot about the torch lighting ceremony! It was really cool to see. And ditto on the EWP!:thumbsup2 We saw it almost every night we stayed at the Poly and loved it. :goodvibes

Have you watched the fireworks from Ohana as well?

You can't always count on a perfect view, and sometimes it is too loud in there to hear the music that is piped in. It is better from the beach, IMO, but if you are stuck in the restaurant, it might work out (I just personally wouldn't plan it that way).

Eeek, we are booked for 5:30pm on July 4th. Is that just gonna be way to early? I wanted to make sure we had time to get a good spot on the beach. I gues it is almost 5 hours though. Is that a bit much?

Depends how much you enjoy Lapu Lapus ;). For me personally, there's NEVER too much time at the Poly. I enjoy walking around the grounds and sitting on the beach. If you're done REALLY early, you can take a spin on the monorail, or walk over to the GF to check out the shops and lobby over there, then walk back.

I had an 8:20 reservations thinking that we would watch the fireworks from the restaurant so I changed it to 6:35. I could not get a little later.
Ok, so walk me thru this one, lol.
We got to the torch lighting at 6pm(where is it?).
After dinner do we ask where the beach is?
Sorry for the ?'s but have never been there.
The night that we are going to ohana, mk is opened until midnight that night so we were thinking about going back to the park after the fireworks. Is this a good plan?
Thanks again!!

The torch lighting ceremony is right out front at the main entrance to the Poly. Usually an older man comes into the lobby and starts to tell everyone that it's about to take place. I think someone blows a conch shell too if I remember correctly.

The beach is super easy to get to. After dinner, go downstairs and out towards the volcano pool (at the back of the resort). Follow straight past the pool and the beach is right in front of you.

If MK is open that late, I'd totally go back after the fireworks.:thumbsup2
