Ohana Review

We ate at Ohana for the first time ever for dinner last month.

I will say we are glad we tried it, but we won't be back.

The good: my Pina Colada, the potstickers, the shrimp and the dessert.

The fair: the noodles, the chicken wings and the bread

The horrible: the meat and the service. The chicken was dry, the steak was overcooked and the pork had no taste at all.

After all the rave reviews, we were very underwhelmed.

I will say I agree with your fair and your great! We however love the chicken but the steak can be a hit or a miss.

I'm sorry 'Ohana was a disappointment for you! I really am! Because when it's good, it really is good~
We've eaten there countless times for both dinner and breakfast and can say that while we have had more postive experiences overall, we have had some misses too there.

Our last time eating there the food was definitely not up to par as we've had it before. Our server was awesome, or so we thought...
We used an American Express Gift Card to pay for dinner (a large party, so it was a pretty sizable amount), and our server told us for some reason, the card was not going through (brand new, so we knew it had plenty on there). So to save time, we paid cash for the check.
Fast forward 2 weeks later, I tried to use the card again since we didn't bother with it for the rest of the trip, and it wouldn't go through again. My DH called AmEx and they told him the amount was charged for 'Ohana.

We basically paid double for our meal (like I said, it was a large group so it was expensive) and that left a VERY bitter taste with my DH.
I called and was told if I had the receipt from our dinner, they could see what they could do. And of course, it was the ONE receipt of the entire trip I could not find and since we paid cash, there was no way to show we paid twice.
That was a special circumstance....but, I would agree 'Ohana can be hit or miss. I hope that sometime in your future you *may* try it again! There have only been a handful of Disney restaurants that I've said never again to.

But glad the pina colada, the most important part, was good for you!

We've eaten at Ohana twice. The first time was a later 7:00 or later dinner. The food wasn't good. The meat was very dry. The next time for dinner we ate at 5:00 and the food was very good. Everything was fresh. I noticed that time that they had cooked up a bunch of the meat skewers they were stacked on top of each other. I can imagne later that evening when they got busy and to the bottom skewer it would be dry. From now on if we eat at Ohana it will be an early dinner.

Ditto this. Early dinners (right at 5) are delicious. The one later dinner we had the food was just not as fresh.

We went to O'hana 2 years ago and fell in love. So last year when we went we booked O'hana for 2 of our sit down meals. What a disappointment! The service was absolutely horrible both nights.
This year we did not book it once.

I have eaten at O'hana more times than I probably should have, each time (with the exception of the first time) thinking that it was an "off-night" and giving the place the benefit of the doubt.

The first time we went was in 2009 and everything was great: the food and service was great, and the meal was well-paced. Every time I have been since then, the food has not come out in the correct order and has been pretty much thrown on our table, the meat is usually overcooked and dry, and it is extremely obvious that they are trying to get you out of there as quickly as possible. The only thing that I enjoy about it is the dessert, but even then, if you ask nicely at Kona, they may be able to accommodate that dessert request there (I think Kona, by the way, is a MUCH better meal than O'hana and would much rather spend my money there).

I'll be sitting the next few O'hana rounds out, in hopes that management sees the issues and fixes them before we lose what was once a great restaurant!

We ate there last Wednesday night. It was our worst meal of the trip which was truly sad as Ohana has long been one of our favorites.

What ruined it this time? Lousy waiter. He acted rushed with us the whole time - but stood at the table next to us and visited dor several minutes with a group of Disney employees, brought the wrong drinks, was a bit insulting at times like when one of us would refuse an item he'd have some snippy comment. That we had to give him a minimum 18% gratuity was salt in the wound.

Then there was the food... not one piece of steak or pork was good. Every piece brought to our table was overlooked and filled with gristle and fat. The chicken was dry. I had a plate covered in leftovers. I subsisted on the noodles and potstickers.

At least the bread pudding was good.

I always loved this place for a quick drink on the way back from the parks, and the character breakfast.

We ate at Ohana last week and I wasn't thrilled. For starters, we arrived early for our reservation and still waited 40 minutes to be seated. The food was eh. It is a peeve of mine a lot of restaurants at Disney seem to use bagged iceberg lettuce. Aside from that, it was all ok, but it was way too much food for us. And our kids are picky. Aside from the steak and a little bit of noodles, nothing really interested them. We ate the next night at Kona, and I enjoyed that so much more.

I love Ohana, we have been there on good nights and on not so good nights. Ohana gets so many mixed reviews that I think a lot of people don't want to waste a meal there. When Ohana is on a good night, I love it. When it's on an off night, it's so dissapointing.
