Hi!

I have been trying to get reservations to O'hana for dinner for the last 2 months. We are going to Diney in September and there have been no openings except for 9:30 pm. We would like to eat at around 6:30 because we have a 14 month old baby. I was just wondering if anyone was able to get in for supper the day of without reservations? Do you think it's possible?

Thank you! :)

It's a pretty popular restaurant so walk ups probably won't be available.....but that's not saying it's not happened. You could always check with them that morning and see what was available. You still have a few weeks though so I would definitely stalk the WDW site and maybe something will free up :)

Next to BOG, 'Ohana is probably the most difficult restarant to get a res, but they do come up because of the cc guarantee - people will cancel because of the financial penalty. Last week I was able to get a 6:25 res for October. You have to be willing to check online multiple times a day because 6:30 is an extremely popular time. It would help if you're flexible about the time or date. You can even continue checking while you're at DW and also ask the concierge at your resort.

You can also subscribe to the Sept cancellation thread:

Walking up would be a last resort. Yes, you might be seated, but you might not. Many people recommend walking up before opening.

Since it requires a CC guarantee, people will cancel. You need to do what others have done and stalk the online system looking for a better time. Often they are gone very quickly, so you need to keep checking.

I've been looking for a better time for our CRT meal. I started with 8:25 PM, which I really did not want to do. After a few days of checking up to 10 times a day, I was shocked to find our current 2:15 lunch. I'm still stalking looking for an earlier lunch or even breakfast. But it requires a commitment to staying constantly checking. I will say that it's VASTLY easier than it used to be when you had to call every time you wanted to check.

Good luck!

I went in January, right as thy opened and had to wait in line for about 30 min before getting in; however that was *right* before they instituted the CC grunted, so it's much less likely than it used to be. That said, if you have any hope of getting a walk up, get there about 4:30. Though, free dining in Sept makes ressies extra hard.

Keep watching and trying - I know in March 2011 we had a reservation for 'Ohana dinner up until a week before our trip, and then we decided to not pay out of pocket for a TS meal and cancelled it. Now that there is a penalty for not cancelling, your chances are probably even greater that something will open up. I think a lot of people book multiple ADRs until they finalize their park touring plans for each day, and then cancel the ones they decide they don't want.

I hope you can get your ADR. I'm nervous about getting ours booked for our trip, and 'Ohana is one we are hoping to get as well.

I'm tempted to do this on our arrival day, at a time where we could see the fireworks. Just don't know if I want to give up Boma though.

Maybe I'll keep checking online too and if anything opens up I'll switch :)

When I was there with my two children and my friend and her three children in early May 2011, we walked up and were told it would be an hour and a half wait. We got a pager and went and rode teh monorail and walked the grounds of the poly and the GF. When we got back we waited about 20 minutes and then were seated. I would definitely try.

We were there this past November, and I think there was a line that was a walk up line, but be prepared to get a long wait quote.

My best advise is, if you do try to walk up, do it at 5pm when they open for dinner, (not 5:15, not 5:30, at 5:00). They'll be more apt to take you then, than your desired 6:30 time slot.

had a hard time also and was putting in 5 for the amount of people and found out online does not always take odd number so tried 6 and got in...then you have to call dining and tell them to take one off as are only 5 people. so ifyour putting in 3 that may be the part of the reason. other than that just keep trying. we normally do not like to eat at 5:15 PM and tookd that as O Hanas always late seating people anyhow so will work out fine. as like you we do not want to eat at 9:30 PM any day if possible not to..

When we checked in for our reservation last week, there was a line for people who did not have an adr. I have no idea if or how quickly they were seated, though. Honestly, with a small child, I would not risk it. We enjoyed it ok but it would definitely not be worth a super long weight with a small child.

I would keep checking, though. I was able to get Chef Mickey ADR the week before we left! I was shocked and so excited to get it! So, it can happen. That said, on our previous trip I tried and tried for O'hana prior to our trip and once we got there and never found an open reservation for a time that was not WAY too late for us.

When we were at Ohana, they were seating walk up guests but there was about an hour wait. Folks seemed willing to wait.

Has anyone had any luck with adding a person at check in? I didn't pay attention that I made my reservation for 3. A month later, I looked at my reservations and saw it was for 3. I called and they said I couldn't add it then, but with people making their reservations for 4 needing 3 or 6 needing 5 I was hoping it might be possible to add one when we got there. We have a 4:30 ressi in Nov. I am still checking for a 4 person, but just in case I was wondering what might happen.

I keep checking for earlier too. We didn't bother with the after 9 reservation but lucked into an 8:20 that had just been cancelled when I stumbled upon the Sept 2012 cancel thread (mentioned by PP). Nervous with them running late we still might not eat until close to 9, but DH loves the food and DD7 and DD5 can't stop talking about the coconut races...
Wishing you luck!

Thank you for this tip! I have been stalking Ohana every day for a ressie (we have 5 people) and I always put in 5. After reading this post, I put in 6 and I got a 6:40 ressie! This was about 3 minutes after I searched for party of 5 ressie.

I'm just going to call to adjust the number. I'm so excited! :yay:

No luck for our end of Sept. trip..will try up until we go..could also try when we check in..we are staying at the poly..so, we are okay to walk down and try...

Good luck!

I haven't managed to get into Ohana either! I have been trying for the last 3 months.

Oh well, will try again next year!

When it comes to Ohana I've always thought it's better to book any time you can find at first to guarantee yourself an ADR. DW and I always eat at Ohana our first night and grabbed a 9:45 ADR in October which is perfect for us. It lets us enjoy the parks for the most of the day (and night) head over to the Poly beach to watch Wishes and then head upstairs to check-in.

A lot of people might not prefer eating so late there but we find it quieter and more relaxing. The service also seems to be more focused as they are dealing with less tables as well. Good luck to all searching for a reservation!
