Ohana rating I would say 4 out of 10

I'm hearing these lukewarm reviews from many, and for the price they're asking, I'm sure I could do better elsewhere.
If your on the fence your probably going to be disappointed.
It was a one and done for us a couple of years ago, it was fine no complaints other than the price. We'll probably go back and try it again at some point but I wasn't disappointed that we tried it.

No, it depends on the meal you're being served. 'Ohana is a glorified buffet—food is all premade and basically the same. I’d expect to be in and out in under an hour without feeling rushed. I don’t usually feel the need to sit and eat for hours, so no, I don’t generally go to traditional four-course meals—but 'Ohana is definitely not that.

Of course, I just wouldn't not take another person's taste pallet for a reason to cancel or book a reservation.
‘Ohana is a four course meal. Bread/salad first. Then the wings and potstickers, then the main course. Then dessert. While I agree it is a glorified buffet, part of the allure is not being a buffet and being served properly. I very rarely get four course meals, or even three course meals for that matter. Thus when the opportunity arises I like to take full advantage of it.

So you let them stack courses on you? Like give you more before you finish what you have?

I'm not arguing whether it's a four-course meal—it clearly is. I'm saying that with a meal like 'Ohana, where you're not ordering off a menu and the food is pre-made, I expect the courses to come out quickly. If I was ordering off a traditional 4 course menu then I would assume 1.5-2.0 is normal. I just don't think Ohana is a traditional 4 course meal and shouldn't be treated as such.

I’d say the same thing about Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom—you’re in and out in about an hour unless you’re going back for multiple refills.

Don't give me salad and wings at the same time, take away my salad then bring me the next course. If you want to stack the 3rd course all over the table knock yourself out. Other than bread I don't ever remember them mixing courses unless they did and we just didn't care.

The problem is that all four courses come out five minutes apart. If you say take it back, they wait five minutes & bring it back again less warm...along with the packed tables, noise, mostly meh food (including inedible meat), less ambience than there used to be, just save a lot of cash & avoid Ohana.

We unfortunately gave up on ‘Ohana years ago. It’s just not good.
So many great memories and meals at 'OHana over the years. But the changes in the menu, a drop in quality, higher prices, and inconsistent service has made it that we don't go anymore either. Used to love the place and would go just about every trip. Now we might go every 5-7 years just to see if perhaps it's improving again. This restaurant is probably one of our 5 biggest disappointments at WDW over the years with the changes they've done.

But they're full every night, so they're not worried about us!!

It’s just once I finish one course it’s just tacky for them to run up grab all the plates and food and then immediately give the next round. This isn’t the hot dog eating contest.

They sometimes will bring you wings if you are still on salad and not eating quick enough to your liking. They will pile on the plates and courses, or at least that’s what happens to families with young kids since kids tend to eat slower.

You might not care getting loaded with plates. We find it tacky though. If we wanted everything at once we would go to a buffet.

Then I send the food back for not being hot. Easy peasy, but in all reality they probably just use that food for another table and get you the next one being served.

They need characters there at night but somehow they fill that whole place up everytime.

Yes it’s amazing how covenanted and difficult getting a reservation is there

We were just there a few weeks ago. We actually had breakfast one day and dinner another. Our breakfast service was awful- the second server was not good maybe new?), which caused the main server to be "in the weeds" with a lot of full tables. It took 30 minutes to get a refill on coffee, waffles and eggs- and we had been enough time to know to ask for these right away to avoid having to wait/try to catch the server. The eggs were awful on the second batch- like they had not been mixed/cooked enough- and the waffles were overcooked and broke apart. We actually complained to the manager and got a refund for part of the meal- it's really tough to mess up a basic breakfast like that, but it happened. We did have a great time with the characters, so that was a plus. Everyone involved on that end was great- and we made sure the manager knew that as well.

Dinner was the complete opposite. Both servers were very good. The food came out quickly, but there was definitely a break between the salad and potstickers/noodles. We asked for more noodles when the meat came out, and they arrived pretty quickly and still hot. It was also the first time we really enjoyed the chicken- it was not dried out and tough! We actually let them know, and were told that the recipe had changed. I'm still disappointed by the lack of bananas foster sauce on the bread pudding, but the salted caramel is OK. Overall, for me, the noodles and bread pudding are worth the trip. But, to each their own...I know it may not be for others.

As for the inconsistency, I agree it's definitely a theme here. More often than not, our breakfast experience is far superior to our dinner experience in terms of service. We were surprised that this year was the opposite. Personally, I think we will always have it on our list of places to visit, but we'll also go in with our eyes open!

Totally forgot about Wailulu. Yeah that was pretty good, I was surprised. I went during lunch time and it was really quiet so it was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of MK.

We went there for a late lunch/early dinner back in March, I agreed it was a nice break but was "meh" about my meal. I have to go back again and try something else. Was objectively better than 'Ohana but also haven't had Kona Cafe dinner since maybe 2018? So tough to compare for me

My sister and I shared 2 appetizers as none of the entrees looked worth the money IMO. I enjoyed those appetizers more than anything at Kona. Service was also way better but it was quiet during lunch time. Last time I went to Kona it took an eternity to get drink orders. The alcoholic ones arrived after our entrees.
