Ohana Over Rated?

Over the last couple years , Ive noticed some changes at Ohona.
Seems like they, the wait staff, are more then willing to bring out the "first " course. When it comes to the meat, shrimp, steak etc , my server disappears. Also, could be the cook , last 2 times , shrimp and steak seem to be a bit over cooked. Ohana must use the same sauce while cooking on ALL the meat.
With this being said, PLEASE cancel your reservation, so I can get a reservation!! Thank you !!

On a lighter note, how has your experience?

Not overrated at all. As far as I know, it's always had very average food at best, which has never been rated highly. Breakfast on the other hand is a different story.

I don't think it's overrated at all! It's always on our list for dinner ADRs every trip!! My kids love the "games," songs and dances in the middle of the meal and they like parading around the restaurant. We've never had a bad experience with the food-- I've always looked forward to all the courses. I guess it's just a different themed experience, but with taking a break from the characters. Sometimes the service can be iffy, I will admit that but it's so much food that we honestly don't really notice if our server goes MIA unless we desperately need drinks lol!

We really enjoyed both our breakfast and our dinner. Our dinner last September was the best meal of the trip. We are going back this September when we have the dining plan.

I would not pay for the dinner OOP because I save the less expensive meals for OOP trips and restaurants like Ohana, Boma, and character dinners for dining plan trips.

It is certainly worth trying. After having read some negative reviews, we were happily surprised with the dinner (much better than expected) and thought the breakfast lived up to the high expectations. Of course, we never ate at Ohana before it supposedly went downhill (from whatever it used to be), but we truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the beautiful views of the castle and the lake, the entertainment, and the food.

'Ohana is a place we'd all love to love, as Lisa F said above, it's "very Walt Disney." For most of my group, the menu has lost its appeal, and the inconsistency of the service is disappointing, especially at the 'Ohana price point. Years ago (WARNING: Old man Disney rant ahead) it was so much better, so we're going to let the pleasant memories linger and forego any further disappointment. I'm glad guests are still going and finding it a great experience, have fun! :earsboy:

I was really on the fence about having dinner there last year. I'd managed to avoid the dinner, having read so many negative reviews, and I just wasn't excited about it. My sister liked the menu and wouldn't let me cancel, and wouldn't you know--it was my family's favorite meal. Best server of the vacation, the food was excellent, and the vibe was so relaxed.

It was a 5 pm ADR, which was the first dinner slot at the time, so that might've had something to do with it.

We've got a lot of ADRs coming up for our next trip in 2 weeks, and Ohana is the one we're all most excited about (even debated doing it twice!). Crossing my fingers that we have the same great experience as last year.

We have been to Ohana dinner for the last two trips.

The first experience was great. Window seat, attentive server, good food.

The second experience was so-so. Seated by the kitchen in the corner, server disappeared for minutes at a time and his helper didn't understand English, chicken was tough, shrimp never came out, steak was tough. Was difficult seated in the back corner watching other tables get plenty of attention while we were ignored.

For me Ohana depends on pure luck. A good placement with a good server and its the best. A poor placement with a terrible server and its the worst experience ever at a huge price.

We love it and are looking forward to returning next month. I will admit that our perception could be affected because of how well they take care of ds with food allergies. It's a happy place for our family.

We've been dining at 'Ohana since the late nineties. I can honestly say we've never had a bad meal - in fact it is on our list of must-dos every trip! We primarily go for dinner but have enjoyed breakfast several times as well. It's a huge part of our vacation and we would be very disappointed if we couldn't snag an ADR.

We ate there two weeks ago and thought the food was decent but servers were kind of blah. The head server was ok but his assistant didn't say a word to us, just plopped the dishes down and ran off.
