Over the last couple years , Ive noticed some changes at Ohona.
Seems like they, the wait staff, are more then willing to bring out the "first " course. When it comes to the meat, shrimp, steak etc , my server disappears. Also, could be the cook , last 2 times , shrimp and steak seem to be a bit over cooked. Ohana must use the same sauce while cooking on ALL the meat.
With this being said, PLEASE cancel your reservation, so I can get a reservation!! Thank you !!

On a lighter note, how has your experience?

We stopped going to 'Ohana, it became hard to justify the expense when we weren't enjoying it as much as we did several years ago. Service is usually decent, food was okay/good, not mind-blowing.

I love their bread pudding.

not worth it after our last trip a couple years ago. Will probably revisit it again in 2017 or 2018 as I normally never write off a place forever.

For dinner, 'Ohana is off of our list. Our last meal in August was horrible, although I have to say the food was rotated often. Our server was hiding most of the time, but I cannot say I blamed her, and we did not penalize her through her tip. We were seated next to the poster family from hades, and they were running her ragged.

it is my opinion that 'Ohana is a victim of their own success, and until they figure out how to manage the number of guests that they are trying to push through we are out.

Everything tastes better at Disney when you're not going as often, lol. I used to have an AP, go 3-4 times a year. Now my trips are spaced 2+ years between and honestly it makes a difference in how I experience things. If you are doing the same restaurant over and over and over I think it can lead to fatigue of that restaurant and also increases your odds of having a server with an off night.

It is on my list for december. It was on then off then recently got a lot of great reviews again and is back on... I decided to follow my own advice and keep it. We'll go early near when they first open (which is also kind of an off dining time) .... we are doing most days as an early breakfast and 4pm-ish dinner.

Totally overrated. This will go down as the worst experience ever, anywhere. The bread pudding can be ordered at the Tambu lounge, so never any reason for me to go back.

In the real world I will give a second chance, but not here. When staying on property and using the world's transportation, it eats up too much vacation time to risk it. Plus it is so not cheap. Those two reasons combined are enough to keep me away. There are so many other places to enjoy again or try new, thankfully.

We've had great food, great service every time we've been to Ohana. Some have said their meats were over cooked. Some like it rare, some medium, some well done. We just tell our server what we want and thats what we get.

For every single restaurant at WDW there are scores of bad reviews as well as great reviews.

We have been there many times and it seems like the waiter/waitress seems to be what makes or breaks it every time. Attentive staff makes it go smoother and way more enjoyable, but staff that disappears for 20-25 minutes and you are left with an empty table and no food or drink, and see the table right next to you by being taken care of regularly it becomes a frustrating experience. we've had great times there, which made it a Must-do on many trips, but it's been three trips since we have been to Ohana, we will probably try again in November, but it's down on the list of must-dos.

I've only been for breakfast and honestly it's the only meal I've ever had at Disney that I would call bad. I've been hesitant to even try dinner because of how bad breakfast was. I just don't hold out a lot of hope that dinner could possibly be that good if they can't even cook potatoes, eggs, and bacon. Even the breads people raved about were dry and tasteless. Service was okay, nothing special and characters were fun, but it's really the only Disney restaurant I have zero plans to return to.

Every time that I read a thread like this the only thing I think of is--
STITCH!!!!

To us that's the most important part!
I knew there was a reason I liked you, lol. But when we went the food was good too... nothing special but hot and fresh and way more than we could eat. except for the fruit and juice which was cold and fresh!

Overrated? Not at all. We have been numerous times, all good or great experiences.

Ha ha! I have no complaints about the food either.

I posted something about WDW food quality on another thread a few days ago-
Not ONCE in my life have I gone to WDW expecting to have a fine dining/gourmet food experience.
I expect it to be good and that's all I really ask for. My dining selections have more to do with characters/locations than actual food offerings..yes, there are some that I feel the food is better than others...and definitely places where I prefer a menu over another...but I've never had food that wasn't at least edible ;)

We just ate there for the first time this past weekend... got lucky with a short-notice reservation. I don't think it's overrated, but I also didn't go into it expecting a gourmet meal.

As for the food - if you're a big meat eater, I think it could be a good value for you. If not, to be fair, I can understand how it could be perceived to be a waste of money. Watching Wishes from our table was lovely. The salad is tasty - fresh, crisp, and the dressing is YUM! The dumplings are divine - seriously, we got a second plate of them because they're so good, especially delicious with that amazing peanut sauce! I can't comment on the wings, because I didn't eat any - my family enjoyed them. The noodles and stir-fry veggies were ok - a little dry, and really nothing overly exciting. Chicken, beef, and shrimp - they were all cooked to perfection, delicious, and plentiful! The bread pudding was fabulous, as was the coffee we enjoyed with it!

Our server and her assistant were incredibly friendly and tried very hard to give us excellent service. Frankly, I think these people are run ragged, which I can see how it could affect the quality of service in many different ways, often through no fault of the servers.

We enjoyed it, and we will definitely do it again. :)

I'm kind of with you there. I am not even picking on the best food. I'm picking the best disney. I can get great food in boston or NY so I go for things I can't get elsewhere, and yes that is often character buffets. Ohana is kind of brazilian bbqish except with an asian flair with a retro funky tiki environment that is so classic walt disney, i love it. I can't get it anywhere else.

IMO way overrated. We've been once for dinner and once for breakfast. That was enough for for us. There are too many places to eat that are much better.

I am taking the risk and trying it!! and am excited haha. We couldnt get a reservation on line so we kept calling... and eventually (a bunch of tries later) there was a reservation in the time slot we wanted!! :) So i say... keep calling! you never know :)

I think it also has a lot to do with where you stay. Example- I know that I would like the restaurants at AKL, but to me they "aren't worth it" strictly due to travel time involved. Tusker House is great and I'll definitely do that while at AK!

Staying at Poly made it convenient to eat at Kona Cafe and Ohana..and again, no complaints with either.

When I stayed at Epcot resorts I was with adults, so character meals were not on our radar and we typically just ate in WS.

We are eating there for the first time on our arrival day next week. All of the family is super excited about it. I hope it is a good experience and good food for the price!
