Ohana or Kona?

I have reservations for both, really wanted Ohana but Kona reserve time is fitting into my schedule better. I hate to give up Ohana because it seems like it so hard to get. My question is...are the foods similar? Is Ohana a lot better? I am paying oop 2 adults, 2 kids, so is either more bang for your buck?

Breakfast, I'd go for Kona
Dinner, I'd go for Ohana

Haven't been to either, but I don't think they're alike at all. Ohana (dinner) is an Asian style all you can eat experience, much like a Brazilian Churrascaria, if you have any near you. Kona is a sit down Asian fusion restaurant. The only similarities are (1) they both have pineapple bread and lapu lapus, (2) I think the chicken wings appetizer is the same, and (3) they are both at the Poly.

I second this! Kona breakfast rocks and 'Ohana dinner is one of my favorites on property.

Celebrating my son's bday, Chef Mickey for breakfast and pirate and pal cruise after dinner, in MK all day. Really just looking a for a nice dinner where we can have a cake. Any opinions on GF Cafe?

Personally I love both Kona and Ohana's but for very different dining experiences. Either way you can't go wrong. As far as bang for your buck, hands down Ohana's for dinner. If breakfast I would go with Kona's.

I think your scheduling confuses me....are you eating at Ohana's a different night from the day of your son's birthday? And if you are, then where does the Pirate and pal cruise leave from? That might help you make your decision. As for the GF cafe, it's an okay restaurant, very pretty nice place to have a sit down meal. 1900 Park Fare maybe a better choice for your son since he'll be able to pick what he wants to eat, if you don't want two buffets in a row (which I couldn't blame you if you didn't) than I don't think you'll be disappointed with GF cafe. Just stick with the the things they specialize in and your golden.

I like 'Ohana much more...especially the bread pudding. Kona was ok...but I've only been once and maybe just didn't order something great.

I agree with 1900 Park Fare instead of GF Cafe as PP said.

Aaaahh, we just went to 'Ohana last night. It's our favorite! It's the most food I eat in one sitting the entire year; even when I'm full, I still find a way to eat just ONE more chicken wing! And the bread pudding dessert is to die for. The only downside is that you're not going to do much of this afterwards:

Love them both.If I had to choose just 1 it would be ohana.Don't get me wrong I plan on eating at both places whenever I am in the world!The pineapple teriyaki glazed steak at Kona was awesome!

Been to both. IMO, I like Kona better. I like the Kona bread better. Entrees are yummy. Love the desserts at Kona.

Ohana usually has really long waits and there was just too much food.

Both are good restaurants.

I'm weird! I vote Ohana for breakfast (my favorite character meal on property) and Kona for dinner.

We did have a bad experience for lunch at Kona in 2008 (food was lackluster), but our dinners from 2002 to 2006 were awesome at Kona.

I have eaten at Ohana several times, and it doesn't impress me that much. The dessert is yummy, but the meats are dry and have a weird flavor. They are not quality cuts of meat. And the side dishes are okay, but nothing extraordinary. The bread is good.

The service has been horribly slow and inattentive at Ohana, but they have been busy every time. So the slow service didn't bother me. I am never rushing anywhere after a meal at Ohana anyway. I pretty much have to roll myself back to the hotel. It is a good value on the dining plan, because they bring out as much meat as you can eat. I just haven't been there on a night when the meat is tender or flavorful.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. We have eaten at both. If your family enjoys a lot of meat, go to Ohana. If you like to order off a menu, go to Kona. Most love the dessert at Ohana but I miss the pineapple and caramel that they once served. Now the white chocolate cheesecake ate Kona---Yummy!
