'Ohana, or "how to ruin the last 2 days of your vacation"

We had a similarly bad experience there in Jan. of '06 and haven't been back since! I know that so many love it, but, for us, it was gross. VERY greasy, warmed over, not fresh at all. And we did not have a late ADR. DH and I both had bad tummies later that night and the next day.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. We loved Ohana's but it definitely sounds like you had an off night.

DD loved the noodles so much they actually brought her another bowl of them. The only thing I didn't like was the chicken, which seemed overcooked. I didn't try the steak since I haven't been able to eat it in a little more than a year (it always tasted spoiled to me, so I quit eating it). Everyone else seemed to like it. I loved the shrimp, vegetables, salad, noodles, and dumplings.

I'm very sorry you had that experience. Ohana's seems to be a pretty coveted place, but I'm noticing that suddenly there are several openings popping up for it every single day next week. Hmmmm:rolleyes1

That recycle comment is just :scared1:

I've been seated as early as 5 and as late as 930 and have never had any issues with the food in 8 visits. The service can be less than stellar, but the food has always been good.

I'm second guessing our 9:55 p.m. ressie on 11/29/10. I thought we would view Wishes (as that is the only night of our entire stay that we can see them) and then hop over to Poly for dinner. It was the only time I could get that day and I grabbed it. I wonder if we say something to the chef before our meal starts if it would help or make it worse. I have tried other days and times and nothing is available yet.

We ate there the night before we left a few weeks ago and we waited FOREVER. I got sicker than a dog immediately and couldn't even finish my food. Dind't even try one bite of the bread pudding. (I was THAT sick.) Then the next morning my 5 year old threw up. Kinda strange but I think it's more than a coincidence. We won't go back.

People, I am sure the OP's experience is just as described, but seriously you can read good and bad reviews about every restaurant.

As to recylcing food, NO, they do not give people food, that has been served. They would not be in business if they did.

As to food poisoning, unless many people get sick at the same resturant at the same time from different families it is almost impossible unless you go to the ER to know if it was food poisoning or a virus.

My family ate at Ohana during Thanksgiving vacation. We loved it!!! Really good food, and a lot of fun! Remember, when reading reviews, you will get all sides of the spectrum. Take it with a grain of salt. I had a Backscratcher cocktail while waiting for our table, and a Habanero Margarita during the meal. Both were very good. The potstickers were really good, and the chicken wings were AWESOME! Everyone loved the food, and my son and I both had birthdays to celebrate(got leighs) I really enjoyed the other dishes also. We rated Ohana as our 2nd best restaurant(behind Le Cellier). I would not hesitate to go back

I'm glad your family had a great time, really -but did you read Marivaid's entire review? She's been to Disney, and to this specific restaurant, more than once; she even said her last meal was great there, but not this one. She also never said no one should go there; she just reviewed her experience.

No grain of salt needed here - I think we're good.

Just my .02 :hippie:

Ate there a year and a half ago at a late reservation (9:30) and the food was fine, it was the service that was problematic.

....Waited 20mns in line only to be told we were too late for our ADR. .....

Me too! Here's another thread about the checkin nightmares at Ohana Dinner

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2614929

We arrived on time for an ADR I made 6 months in advance...... took FOREVER to check-in... then waited another hour... and it wasn't until we were finally seated and I complained... that the manager blamed us for being late and said we were put in as a walk-up... and acted like he was doing us a favor... The only reason we were marked late was because they took about 30 minutes just to check us in! Other than the dessert, food is just so-so or yuck...... the bread is dry, the noodles were greasy, and the shrimp were not deveined.....

I have absolutely NO interest in going back there... so many other better places to eat.... better food, better service, no check-in problems, better management.
