We will be arriving at the Poly on Dec. 12th. It will be our kids first trip to Disney. They are 7 and 5. Would you recommend Ohana or Hoop De Doo and why?

We haven't eaten at Ohana yet but we have been to Hoop De Doo and my toddlers loved it. They also enjoyed the food which was fried chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, baked beans, ribs and cornbread with strawberry shortcake for dessert. They loved all the singing and music too. We enjoyed the unlimited beer and wine. Service was fantastic, our server brought us out more of the pieces of chicken we requested. It was perfect, we are definitely going back. I've seen the menu at Ohana and it doesn't seem as kid friendly and it isn't a dinner show of course. It was nice to enjoy food at Hoop DD that was more like home for us. That said, we want to try Ohana too and have both booked this coming December trip. If we had to choose one or the other, we'd do the dinner show though.

We are just the opposite of the pp. We have not been to HDD, but my kids love O'Hana. Stitch is worth the price of admission (see my avatar !). this is a must do for us every trip to the world. good luck.

Stitch is only there for breakfast. And Ohana is not a show. Hdd is a two hour hoot. Good food and free beer! I've seen very young cranky kids at the 9:30 show, but once it starts, you don't hear a peep from them. They sit and clap and laugh and beat their washboard for the big finale.

I have been trying to decide the same thing- Ohana or HDD.

I decided on HDD, because the Ohana reviews are so inconsistent.

So if we can get adrs for the first HDD, we will take the boat to MK, do a monorail run, and still see Wishes from the beach at Poly :thumbsup2

You made absolutely the right choice with HDDR! It is a great dinner show ... food is good ... an "event" that the whole family will love. Try for Category 1 if you can; if not 2 & 3 are fine as well.

Additionally, remember that the price includes gratuity AND all-you-can drink wine and beer. Can it get much better than that? !!!!

We've been to 'Ohana as well ... love that; however, if I had to choose between the two - especially for a first time visit - HDDR, FOR SURE!!!!

While I think everyone should try HDDR once to see if it is right for them, it was not right for my family. I took my then 8 and 7 year old to see it in March when we went and it was okay. The food was good standard BBQ fare but the strawberry shortcake was gross. I am used to homemade strawberry shortcake with real crushed strawberries and homemade cream though, so the jello filled dessert they brought out went untouched. The show was nice but not worth the two credit on the DP or OOP for us. I respect the opinion of others who loved it though.

Ohana is a regular for my family every trip for dinner (per my children's request.) The first time we went there we had a time close to Wishes purely by accident. Once they saw the fireworks they were hooked. Now I ask where they want to go each trip and Ohana is always first on the list for them. Ohana doesn't have a big show, but they do have a nice woman who comes out plays songs, sings, and the kids can get up and participate in different activities.

We have been to both many times through our life time and would suggest trying Hoop Dee Doo Revue. We always get Category 1. Usually we are right up at the front of the stage. We love the food and unlimited beer :)

We've done both and love each one-so as I tell my kids, when you have 2 good choices you can't make a bad choice!

That is what will make DH happy :drinking1

And maybe I'll actually have a glass of wine with dinner that night pixiedust:
