Ohana or Chef Mickey?

I will be staying for a week and paying everything out of pocket. DS (age 6) has never had a character meal.

I have one ressie on his birthday at Garden Grill. I am thinking it's a wise choice because too much noise can freak him out a bit. He also has tummy issues and I like that they bring everything to the table.

I made another ressie for Chef Mickey's around 11am one day. Mostly because he saw it on You Tube and always talks about it. But now Im just reading about the noise level and mediocre food. Plus my older two and hubby are not much of morning people.

So Im thinking of changing it to Ohana's for dinner one night. My son's favorite character (after Mickey and Goofy), is Stitch. Plus DH and the kids love MEAT! But Ive also heard some iffy reviews on Ohanas too. It sounds really neat though. DH likes well done meat anyway :goodvibes

Any recommendations? Two character meals is all I can swing. If I do Ohana's, whats a good time to go?

P.S. I freaking miss the character meals at Liberty!!!

ETA....I just looked and there was only one spot left the whole week I am going in January. So I grabbed it just in case. BUT, I noticed it says does not include characters. Do they not come out at dinner?

I would stick with Chef Mickey's, both because there are more characters and because your son seems to have an interest in this particular character meal. I thought the food was good there. If you are interested in seeing Lilo and Stitch at Ohana, I think you can only do that at breakfast. I could be wrong, but I think they just have coconut races at night for the kids instead of characters. We have enjoyed breakfast there numerous times; it is a family style traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs, Mickey waffles, bacon and sausage etc.

Okay, yeah, I just read it's only breakfast. Grrr, lol. I think DH and older 2 would like Ohanas at night. Maybe I'll keep that one and see if I can scrounge up more cash.

Yeah Ohana's character meal is breakfast. If you are considering Ohana breakfast, I'd re-consider and stick with Chef Mickey's breakfast. The buffet is only a few dollars more and has more options. Ohana is served family style on a skillet and is just bacon, eggs, sausage, potatoes and waffles for virtually the same price.

Chef Mickey's is a breakfast tradition for us, or was until our next trip. But our kids are older now (19, 15) so they are not that into characters anymore. Plus our 19 yo DS is doing a Disney internship, and he knows many of the characters. But as 6, 8 and 10 year olds, Chef Mickeys for our kids was the best ! My avatar was taken when my DD was 8 at O'Hanas at breakfast. Stitch was being Stitch. Your son won't be disappointed at either place. Good luck.
